alpha shots of ruins

(neotic) #1

Well since HeirPie blabbed about thise I might as well post some screenshots I’ve been dying to post. Until I think of a better name, this is “ruins”. Just ignore the missing sky, didnt realize the new sky I was using wasn’t working till after I ran lighting.

Wicked looking!

(shazmax) #3

That looks nice - love the modeling and texturing!

(seven_dc) #4

Nice. reminds me of Jedi academy somehow.
Are those ledges all accessible or do you need trickjumpig?
The fog is also cool reminds me of my sandheli map. What are the objectives?

I suppose you’re referring to the decorations on top. Those, if accessible, will need trick jumping. Many walkways/ledges are already used for play though. As far as objective, well Pie and I are tired of Axis getting to play defense all the time. So Allies will probably be in control of this beast and Axis will have to break in… still planning objectives as I go. Expecting a beach landing and many forward spawns to lead the teams to the palace where Axis will… have to do something

Just look at the first screenie without the sky and it looks like the sky is there. Dont know what sky you have picked but I recken that an orange sunset would look cool. It seems to fit in with the atmosphere since you have enabled fogging so it makes it look like sunset when it’s difficult to see to far

Sorry had to say something, I sure hate to see maps get set aside  had to say something about that one it looked so nice, I just want to jump into it and play…

BTW hows that capture the Dean project going…

(G0-Gerbil) #8

Seems like vertical play is enjoying a renaissance
Looking fun.

(Fusen) #9

im guessing the timelimit is gonna be long as it must take a damn while to get around this and inside all the buildings

(neotic) #10

Schaffer, whats in the screenshot is the texture ET uses when it can’t find the real sky/texture. But, last night after I posted these I modified the Battery sky and it has a lovely orange sunset atmosphere.

Heh its cool Pie.

Gerbil… thats the idea exactly… Isle’s vertical leap went over well so I guess I havent changed

Fusen; while it looks gigantic it actually is very quick to get around. The size of the buildings are imply that the path takes a long time… but thats not really the case.

Capture the dean is alright, getting really tired of working on it.

They look great… Nice work… Can we expect a beta soon?.. i might b able 2 arrange a ‘ruins night’ on my clans server…
Would b awesome!

(neotic) #12

Since I’ve locked myself away finishing this project for school; I thought I’d give myself a breather and post some of the last work on ruins that I had done.

Do you think the sky is too strong? Too orange? Really having a hard time figuring out how I want it… so more feedback would be great. As you can see I changed the huge tower’s into patches; looks much nicer. I also stole the battery sky and made it all nice and orange. Lots of other new additions; like the lone oak tree and another ropewalk.

I can’t wait to start doing terrain and make it all feel real…

Progress and other projects considered; beta should be out maybe by may? Alright, I’ll leave ya guys alone

(MadJack) #13

since you’re asking…

Yeah too orange for my taste… I’d think a blueish sky would work ok… Maybe with an orange cloud layer?

(CptnTriscuit) #14

Dont even think about changing that sky! It adds alot or character to the map and is doing great things against the brushwork. If you saved the blue color for the indoor areas that would great some great contrast and really make those big stone buildings feel cold and solid.

just one mans opinion…

sweet buildings no matter what color they are

(=DaRk=CrAzY-NuTTeR) #15

looks great, although the orange and red take over too much, add plants, grass and trees

(Domipheus) #16

i like it!

(Crotalus) #17

I agree. leave the sky orange and have some other contrasting color inside such as blue. the orange gives it the rich color of a warm sunset. I like it a lot.

(shazmax) #18

I like the sky - what are you using to light it up?

(The Wanderer) #19

Your brushwork is exellent.

(neotic) #20

mmmh, what dya guys think?

what if i make the fog orange?
