All Snipers Need A Nerf

I think all snipers need a nerf when in close range combat. Let me start by saying that I commend anyone with the skill to pull off a headshot at close range. Snipers should have the capacity to do what they are intended to do and nothing more. No matter the skill no one should be able to snipe a merc with 140 health for instance fragger who is much more suited for close range in a quarter of the time it takes him with his m4. That’s why I think snipers should receive a nerf to their sniper whenever within close and going for a head shot or any other part of the body. Make it so they can only do 99% of the players current health in damage. By close range I mean like 5 feet away or so maybe more 8 feet? This way you would change the way snipers would play against someone rushing their face.

Forgot about the PDP oh my fucking god the PDP. I am a god with that weapon I can pretty much kill anyone with it no problem at close, mid or far range. A good idea would be to make it if you miss your first shot the dmg of the weapon decreases or stays at its default damage and if you hit the damage increases(up to certain point maybe 25 or 35). Possibly starting at lower damage than it is now by like 15 or 10 hP. Also to prevent ppl from doing waay to well with this weapon limit the rounds to about 5 or 6 per clip. Almost forgot lol to prevent PDP users from using it up close lowers the fire rate by 2 or 1 sec. This is just an idea tell me what you think please. o:)

Forgot to add this too lol. Lower or raise the nerf based on the maps size. So if it’s terminal maybe the range becomes 4 feet instead of the 6 for train yard.

The points you are attempting to make seem suspect or even outright mistaken. Videos might collaborate what you’re saying, but otherwise, I’m just going to assume you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Even with the map sizes the way they currently are, snipers very rarely score kills at close range nor is the PDP particularly effective against players who know how to play.

I mean for the ones that are capable of doing so. Which I have run into. However I can see why see it that way. I think I explained my point pretty clearly. I want snipers to behave more like snipers. I think I am over exaggerating about the bolt action nerfs but not so much the PDP

If a Vaseline manages to domeshot you at point-blank, good on him, he deserves the kill. In my experience if I get close to a Vass I usually rek him easy - I think the current system is fine.

i agree the system is fine and if a vassili does pull of the shoot he deserves it

Snipers in this game would be pretty worthless if they could not be mobile. If you aren’t running and jumping off of things while taking a shot or using your mp400 you’re playing him wrong. Sitting in one spot and trying to be a ranged only player means you’ll have very little impact most of the time. That is true in pubs just as much as in competitive play.

My opinions:

  1. Basing damage done on percentage of enemy players health is a bad idea, and would make the gun vary wildly in damage.

  2. If you have a problem with snipers in close quarters, use an assault class (Rhino, Fragger, Nader).

  3. But snipers aren’t reliable in close quarters anyway so it shouldn’t be an issue as with hipfire from a sniper rifle you have no idea where the bullet will go, and aim is moved when you ADS so your crosshair isn’t at the same place, making it harder to quickscope.

  4. Making a weapon decrese in damage because you missed is not a good idea, and in tandem with your other suggested nerfs (way slower RoF, Smaller Magazine capacity, damage dropoff at close range) would make the PDP completely useless when compared to snipers.

  5. Changing damage drop-offs by map would be very annoying because you’d have to think about different statistics for the same gun depending on what map you are playing.

  6. Snipers are balanced. They have (relatively) low health and are not good at close quarters unless they get really lucky and the bullet goes where they wanted it.

Yeah this sounds like a great idea lets punish the god tier vasilli players in this game for being better then you. Let’s be honest it isn’t fair that they can kill you just because they are at a level of play with vasilli that most players will never reach.

Srsly op it is ridiculously hard to consistently land headshots with vasilli in close quarters. And to be consistent enough that you would intentionally put yourself in that situation.

Don’t cry because a vasilli got a lucky CQ headshot on you

I think the only thing that needs to be changed for sniping is that they shouldn’t be hitscan. Hitscan sniping is way too easy and a 1 shot kill weapon should never have such a low skill ceiling.

If you do alternative movements such as walljumping snipers will have a terrible time trying to shoot your head.
Most people just run straight and jump in a predictable arc which makes them very easy to instagib.
Sniping is balanced and you should try it before saying it is OP/unbalanced.

Only thing that’s OP about snipers is instagibbing. Same with Fragger’s nades.

Fragger grenades only instagib now if they are a direct hit. And that’s pretty rare even if you’re amazing at your timing and throwing at a completely unaware person. Back in the day (few months ago) your comment would be accurate but it’s really not very accurate with the current state of his nades.

If you’re standing still long enough to get headshot you’re not playing this game properly or are on an MG, and if you’re getting insta headshot in close range then that is the skill of the other player not the guns.

I completely agree with this post. The amount of minimum recoil and fire rate of snipers in this game is ridiculous compared to all other fps I have played. They are far OP, it takes 0 skill to be a dominate sniper in dirtybomb.
