Aimee is French? Worst accent ever

Seriously her accent is bad. It sounds like an American trying to fake a French accent, but still sounding very American.

She is supposed to be French right? Correct me if Im wrong. Because right now I feel the voice acting needs much work.

AFAIK, French people who learn English well have barely any accent and sound American. Take a look at R6 Siege. There are 4 operators from GIGN and only 1 sounds french. The other’s sound American.

Maybe French who have to be professional sound American, but I’ve met a lot of Frenchies with accents, some of them real bad. Like almost incomprehensible.

The French language puts the emphasis on the last part of a word, where languages like English or Dutch focus on the first part. That’s usually the biggest obstacle for the French.

Aimee’s voice is not as worked as other mercs’ voice. She’s like bored when she speaks.
As a French I can say without doubt that the few words Aimee say in french are not said as French people would say that.
Like when she say “Enchantée”, I don’t hear a pissed off parisian, but more a classy londonian who try to speak French.
Maybe she can speak well English with English accent, as any other mercs (sparks is from Eastern Europe and she speaks perfectly English) but I think French words must be said with French pronunciation.

Nader does not sound Germans at all. More Russian. And is using Russian words instead of German.
Best example: “Granata” is Russian, nor German.

Yeah, the non-native english speakers are voiced badly. We had this thread a while back. The voice actors are all native English, and you can tell. It’s not something that’s happened only now.

I clearly hear her shouting “Granaten!” which means “grenades” according to google translate. Also “something something, take the hint, ja?”. But AFAIK you’re German so I’m not going to argue here :slight_smile:

When Aimee speaks, the pronunciation is so flat, I feel like I’m listen to the French President speaking English (he speaks English poorly)
It’s sad, because I love the merc and the ability, but the audio is quite bad.

No not really, but it’s very rare, and most French people who’re considered to have learned English ‘well’ still have a very strong accent. Military operators, are not a good example, because they’ll probably had far more extensively language training, and will probably have trained abroad on joined exercises.

I’ve been in France a lot, lived there for a while too, both on the countryside and in the big cities. Even a person who only has a modest command of French usually is better off switching to French, than continue a conversation in English with a Frenchman, who technically is on higher level of English than the former is with French.

She has 2 shouts. One is right, the second is wrong. Also some of her quotes are meant so sound like German words but make no sense.

She screams random words in her quotes that sound like classic Hollywood-Nazi-movies German, but make no sense in terms of being actual German words.

Pretty much every single voice actor is English, due to Splash Damage recording them internally. I think the only exception is the voice actor of Phantom… pretty much all of the other have natural English accents - so the international accents are “faked”. Imho they did a good job.

She sounded not too bad. It could be worse.

However one thing bothers me with her and I believe it’s one of her thank you quotes. Where she says “Enchantée”. You don’t say that to thank anyone, you say that when you meet someone for the first time, guys.

It sounds fine but she’s very dull, bit I have high expectations after hearing kawaii.
