Aimee is French? Worst accent ever

AFAIK, French people who learn English well have barely any accent and sound American. Take a look at R6 Siege. There are 4 operators from GIGN and only 1 sounds french. The other’s sound American.

Not in my experience. I went to college with and remain good friends with a few French citizens. Even the girls with the best English skills still sounded more French than Aimee

Isnt German for grenades “Granaten” like the other gentleman said? I always felt Nader had a decent accent.

Pretty much every single voice actor is English, due to Splash Damage recording them internally. I think the only exception is the voice actor of Phantom… pretty much all of the other have natural English accents - so the international accents are “faked”. Imho they did a good job.

Yes it is. But she also screams “Granata” which is Russian for grenade.

these are not intended to be natural accents. all accents are in the game for making it more funny. And i love how SD does it. All mercs seem to be wannabe-foreign.

Except they gave the mercs proper backstory and it says Nader is born German.
The reality is they didn’t feel like paying an actual dialect voice actor, so they paid a cheap average voice actor.

The thing is must people who speak with an accent are either incomprehensible or the accent isn’t as noticeable as you’d think. I’ve heard it destined as a “Hollywood” accent as its what everyone expects people from these countries to sound like due to movies.

@Ctrix you do realize voice actors aren’t cheap, right? Odds are they’d have to pay for them to travel and as well as for a hotel. If they are able to get a stylized accent using cheaper VAs that live near by, why wouldn’t they?

You mean a European-based development company couldn’t be bothered to find actual Europeans to do voices for their respective countries? I mean some of the long distance countries I can understand like Russia and Australia but damn it’s not like a voice actor’s trip from Germany or France would have been a huge time commitment. I’m sure SD has plenty of fans from those countries who would have done it for free if they had asked.

But then again if they needed more lines at a later date it would be much easier to use people there all the time
