he’s talking about 45id server, they are a known cheating clan, and their server is advertised with cheating in the description which you see when you join
what did you think would happen joining a scummy server like that?

thanks Fusen, that is what I meant, but I notice it was his “brother” who went on it
How many times have I heard “It wasn’t me, it was my little brother”
assumeing he said the truth i do care more about the future. afaik the key of Quake 4 is bound to the guid. so imagine this happens to any of you and you get banned. if you want to keep playing you can spend another 50 bucks on the same game to get a new guid, just because some idiots think it’s funny to put a hack into a pk file that gets downloaded when you enter a server.
What that describes is completely unrelated to what maddog described.
Yes, you can unknowingly download .pk3 files which are associated with cheats. These can be caught via the md5 tool (they will not however actually work as cheats by themselves, unless the the server also has the .pk3 or is unpure). Last I heard the fools over at punkbusted.com will even put you on the MBL for having this kind of thing, but thats a different rant.
But the isn’t what maddog described at all. He said specifically that he found a specific cheat .dll inside an etpro*.pk3 (not zz_quad or one of the other ones that people check for with md5tool), and was kicked for it.
i wouldn’t worry about it. assuming such a thing happened in Q4, and Punksbusted added you to their MBL, they would lose all credibility. i find it surprising if they are really doing so for ET. they’ve historically been very good about monitoring who gets added and who doesn’t, and have even done mass removals for errors.
at any rate, i simply refuse to recognize the league rules regarding pk3 files. it’s a matter of principal. i happen to be capable of ensuring that i don’t have them on my system, but i assure you there are a huge number of players who are not. i know people who can’t even navigate their file system, yet they are decent gamers. asking them to browse to their ET folder and remove a pk3 file would be akin to asking them to perform brain surgery. and since the files themselves are as dangerous as a chocolate revolver, the rule needs to be boycotted until it is removed. if a few top players allowed themselves to be banned for those files, it would do much to remove this asinine rule. in fact, i’d suggest people begin intentionally “infecting” themselves with these pk3 files. a mass onslaught of md5 kicks for totally benign files would serve to highlight the idiocy of league admins.
nowhere does anyone say he was kicked with md5 check, please take that rant elsewhere
as Mortis says, looks like he downloaded a “hacked” etpro pk3 from 45ID server

Hah, I knew he’s going to be like this from the day he appeared on these forums.
