again all servers empty...

in mapping you tend to do things 100s of times. SD will be making many passes of a map.
re balancing for spawns is not a big job especially when you know its coming or even if you didnt.
we havent got rocket launchers but are you saying the maps cannot be balanced because we havnt got them yet.
you just have to keep things in mind and make adjustments as you go.
i could ague that putting them in now will mean everytime a new item is added to the game you will have to re-adjust spawns everytime.

but tbh i cant think of a change to a map that would make any difference whether you have spawn waves or drip spawns.
its just more enjoyable as a wave. its not necessarily layout.
What difference to layout would you change to accommodate defensive waves.
maybe for entities directly related to gameplay ie places on the map you can deploy certain bonus items, but its minuscule.

i think sd are doing a great job of keeping db fairly balanced as and when they introduce new items.
but being in the alpha is a tough job because you want a full package.
it just isnt there yet and wont be for a long while.
enjoy the fact that this is different from a full game you buy and that you can influence it.
how many games do you know where the maps change every week. new objectives, items, characters. gui’s
pff now im waffling.

if I could I would like to think of something that could make a map really ‘tactic decision choices’ style I think for comp and comp spectators its should be very interesting to see what a team chose to do as tactic …remind me in the WCG in canyon when you chosed to take o the back (longer) route with the MCP

(Dragonji) #83

I agree it’d be great if we were allowed to plant C4 anywhere, I really liked trolling using dynos in W:ET

(Volcano) #84

I used to put a dyno in the back of the truck on supply, it never ended well for either side

(Ashog) #85

…except that fixing spawns IS balancing maps. They can and will have to fix spawn times individually for each team on each objective. IMO they have to start with placing objectives in a better place/distance first (also forward spawns), then fix the distances/routes/spawns, and only then start with fixing spawn times.
To be honest, I think that’s what they are doing currently - fixing objective locations and travel distances from spawns, which is good. Of course we should remind SD of these problems, but also we can suspect them to be correcting these issues already now. I wonder if I’m right here…

(Seanza) #86

Well it’s part of it, at least. Objective locations and travel distances may have to change depending on spawn times as well.

I prefer to leave feedback after I’ve tested and then move on to new issues. I’m not here to have fun :).

I’m so glad you guys bring this up…I was just thinking about it the other day and I totally agree.
It also annoys me to no end that it just drops to the ground at your feet no matter which way you “aim” it.
Creative planting increases fun factor for me by 10 fold. As an example(maybe a silly or cheap one but still) back in etqw there was a map(I forget the name) where you plant at a gate as the first objective. My covert friend would throw a smoke on it, then we would run in, he would crouch, I would jump on his shoulders, he would stand, and I would plant at the TOP of the gate, just out of reach without a shoulder boost. It was very difficult to actually accomplish with all the enemies around and such, but if you got it, you gave your team a MUCH better chance of blowing the gate because it was such a pain to diffuse it there.
Also, planting it on enemy vehicles no one had jumped in yet was hilarious…here it comes down the road and they’re all happy…BOOM. trolled hard.
Silliness and cheap tactics aside, I found it to be very strategic…it made you think about where you were planting and how you were positioned…which adds depth to the gameplay for me. And added depth is never a bad thing. Hope that wasn’t too rambling lol

This has been brought up multiple times ago. Like I said many times already, I would also like to see this. Especially the ‘stuck in plant animation’ is very annoying. Since you can’t react fast enough when an enemy suddenly shows up.
You talked about trickplants which are indeed very cool, but they would also require a suitable map/objective design to work, which isn’t the case at the moment.

(Bangtastic) #92

there is no trolling, play hard play fair!!! >:( so short ttk isnt enough …^^ always this criminal engergy in games ^^

(zeroooo) #93

pls SD, give samurai a job!

and pls let him be a map designer or whole gameboss or anything,

we would have an awesome game than, with great maps and nice weapons :>

tbh, your mapdesign is, to say it politely, “strange” couuughhh

yeah the automatic “xbox-like” push “E” to plant is very anoying to … keep it as a quick use to switch weapon slot but actually you dont have any control on it, and I really dont like. I want to be able to switch to the C4 and plant where I want as a weapon slot. woking perfect in previous games and that “consolised” gameplay is really not for pc games !
“made for pc” really ? easy to use and really nothing to master …

(pulley) #96

like bombaklak Idea!

(prophett) #97

Is the only current active server passworded for a reason?

(.Chris.) #98

Biggest issue for me was all the bellends on servers and here on forums. Early on in the Alpha I was quite excited about the prospects of this game but as time as gone on I’m finding myself less inclined to want to test the game or discuss the game due to such things as team stacking, cock measuring, inflated egos, exploiters, abuse and so on. With what little spare time I have these day do I really want to be spending it with all that crap going on when you’re just trying to test a game? Nah…

(woll3) #99

We have played UK vs. GER on it, thats why, and a thing i want to mention, just because its called the Competitive Feedback Subforum doesnt mean only comp players should take a look in there, it would probably be good to hear some feedback on the suggestions we make there from other people too.

As apparently it is not only a problem when the comp players are on the server, doing epenis stuff (i am also guilty), it also seems that there are not enough players to fill up the normal servers while we are playing some scrims, i would suggest to hand out some keys, maybe on facebook or something, or make a raffle here on the forums ,or more vip keys whatever, just make sure that people dont lose interest in the game at such an early stage(or people will probably talk bad about it), maybe the new characters will help to get things going again too when they are done.

(iwound) #100

i think there were 2 servers running tonight.
i saw 12 on the match server and we got some games for a few hours on the casual.
some good play tonight. lots of great medic-ing. makes a big difference.
