After patch lag on 360

(jtcolumbus) #1

Got the patch earlier today and I am sad to sa that lag tonight was worse than ever. I played a bunch of games earlier today that all ran smooth, but this evening I cannot find a single one that is playable. This is a great game when it can be played but this is getting out of hand. Please fix this SD!

Every single game I played after the patch, was lag-free, and I’m not alone on this. Perhaps the problem is on your end?

(its al bout security) #3

only one match lagged

(DazTroyer) #4

I only got to play one match and that was fine, will test more later. I generally found it worse, pre patch, the later I played. You get more player from the USA online then which is never good for us Europeans.

(DazTroyer) #5

Just tried one game, Big team, with only 3 real players and the worst teleport lag. Unplayable.

The patch has made no difference at all. Obviously the netcode is too far gone to be patched. These people claiming that things are different are just seeing what they want to see. They are the same people that think that the netcode has improved anyway, all by itself. Fanboys will think it’s better even if they had patched nothing. It’s the placebo effect.
I’d like to see the patch notes. The match I just tried to play was a joke, I couldn’t even move.
The matchmaking is terrible; that hasn’t been fixed. There’s still no one online. And peopel don’t play with headsets or teamwork. The whole game is a waste of time. It’s more hassle trying to play than not.

If you haven’t brought this game yet; don’t bother. Yet another crew of developers who can’t be bothered.

(DazTroyer) #7

Its more to do with bad host selection as when friends of mine all play on a 2mb upload connection it plays fine, no lag at all. Why the game does this I do not know, it should tell the host how many players they can handle.

To be honest, after playing this morning, its not really improved. It’s still a case of finding a good game and it still sticks you in the guys from the US, which is crazy.

I really think SD should drop all games modes including campaign down to 5 vs 5 until things are sorted. Just leave Big Team for 8 vs 8 for those with v high upload. This way more games would be playable, at present folk are only going to give up playing and without a community a netcode fix is unless.

(rumblylizard) #9

and enable voice over IP in all modes!

(wishface) #10

I don’t really want to play with 5v5 so if they do that then the least they could do is offer a refund and send me a stamped addressed envelope. I’d be more than happy to then return my game. They are welcome to it. The 9 other people that seem to make up the game’s only online population are welcome to it.

(xzen) #11

Yeah it’s definitely placebo when:

I go from 9/10 laggy matches to one in more than twenty, and in that one the lag was immediately fixed by a host migration.
I find full 8v8 lobbies with no lag in two or less searches when before I would have to search on every map individually at least once.
Walljumping actually works properly and doesn’t just repeatedly make the wall slide noise to no effect, in fact movement in general is a lot more fluid.
No bursts of lag whenever anybody disconnects/joins.

What download/upload speed do you have and what region do you live in?

(wishface) #12

The game’s a joke. About time people starting waking up to that fact instead of giving bethesda carte blanche to take the p.

the map design is poor.
hit detection stinks.
it’s far too easy to just set up 20 turrets around the chokepoint and win.
Noone plays the game and nne of the devs take responsibility for this mess.
It’s hopeless.
When there’s a lot of stuff happening on screen the game just collapses.
This should never, ever, have gotten released.

Congratulations - I guess it made a difference on your end. On the other hand, there are many players for whom the patch made no difference at all. And this game lags so hard I’m still setting that explosive 2 hours later.

(H0RSE) #14

Why should they force that on people? Forcing all modes down to 5v5 serves a purpose until they can fix the netcode. Forcing VOIP on in all modes serves no purpose other than to satisfy your personal preference.

(Jess Alon) #15

Then sell it on amazon and leave the boards by all means.

(Jess Alon) #16

In games that have VOIP I just start a party by myself so I don’t have to listen to the randoms anyway. So they see the headset and I don’t respond to them. That probably just causes more problems. VOIP off by default is better.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #17

You should look at your connection speed.

(wishface) #18

Why? It’s good enough to play most other games. Brink should be no different. It’s only 8v8 and already has poor graphics.

The game just isn’t well put together.

(wishface) #19

And by all means grow up and learn to tolerate a different opinion.

What does graphics have anything to do with connection speed? You’re like a politician, dodging questions and speaking the answers you want to hear, just to get your point across.

Oh please, save me the “different opinion” speech…

Having a different opinion is one thing. Posting depressing, ignorant posts to get your point across, is another. Perhaps if you constructed professional sounding posts that actually had substance to them, other than simply reading like “this game sucks,” people would begin to take you seriously and value your opinion, because as of now, you simply sound like a whiny brat upset because his toy doesn’t do everything he wants it to.
