After some recent posts first by Bloodbite stating that since the CB is about to start the core features are done. Followed by iwound mentioning that only certain characters would be receiving SMART movement.
Smooth also said a strafejumping character isn’t ruled out

I came to the chilling realisation that the current movement could be/is what we’re going to get, with some characters having more advanced movement. I’m confused by such a desicion since I thought advanced movement would be a core part of the game.

Although smooth was being a bit facetious. he was hinting at separate characters with better movement.
in the end how do SD solve the problem of making everyone happy.
answer: make a character for everyone.

I think that’s a great idea, which not only opens up the possibility for adding very advanced movement without accessibility being an issue – since new players can just play a different merc instead – but it also adds another avenue for differentiating mercs.

The movement mechanics common to all mercs should still feel highly responsive, though, which is something I don’t feel Extraction has quite nailed yet. The controls still feel a bit “floaty”, and some basic issues still remain. One example in particular is the incorrect (at least by my definition) implementation of duckjumping currently in the game. Instead of just pulling your legs up when you hit the duck key while mid-air, and thus not affecting your jump trajectory or momentum, it currently pulls your view down, and thus shortening your jump. Relatively small issue, but it drastically lowers the utility of duckjumping, and feels horribly wrong to experienced fps players.

As much as i would like to see all of the options mentioned above combined, with the maps adjusted, and maybe even widened, i still think that this won’t help the game with the infight movement. The infight movement is, from the perspective of an old W:ET player not trying to speak for all, more than unexciting. So i would think strafe-sprint can help there, as a start?

EDIT another thing: do you think the game should be more responsive in the transition from sprint to infight? Because currently the animation puts a little delay in there, when you transition out of full speed sprint into infight to combat an enemy + you can’t sprint-firefight. In W:ET you could fire away straight out of full speed and keep that full speed. That is quite the difference.
