Advanced - InGame Voice Chat

(SniperSteve) #1

Advanced InGame Voice chat basicly means more than 1 Channel for voice communication with other players. This will let more advanced clans have an extra edge over thier less organized oponents. In short this will furthur encourage teamwork and organization.

Channel 1: Commander Channel.
Execution: Basically this will send voice to all ‘Squad Leaders’
Purpose: You need to quicly tell all squad leaders something of importance, but that doesn’t need to go to the other people. OR Squad Leadrs can communicate among themselves to organize an assult or decide what to do.

Channel 2: Squad Channel.
Execution: Sends voice chat to all members in your current squad including the Squad Leader.
Purpose: This will be the most commen used channel. The Squad Leader can communicate with those under his command and they with him. The squad member can communicate among themsleves for the classic “Enemy 12 O-Clock! Take 'em out!”

Channel 3: Team Channel.
Execution: Sends voice chat to your entire team.
Purpose: If you arn’t concerned about squad structure and don’t mind hearing EVERYONE, this is the one to use.

Channel 4: Local Channel.
Execution: Just like if you were yelling something in real life. It goes to anyone, (possibly including enemies) within a short distance.
Purpose: Send out quick orders to those around you reguardless of who they are. This way you can send orders to squad members, and non squad members without annoying eveyone on your team. (as you would if you used the Team Channel)

Too bad there’s no Commander in ET:QW. If I recall correctly, one of interviews said it has been dropped during development or something.

Squad channel: already implemented in Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory (Fireteam)

Team channel: already implemented in Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory.

Local channel
Yeah, I like it. I would use it instead Fireteam chat. You can’t count on anyone using Fireteam chat on pubs. Keeping teams together is hard enough. There’s no need to spam entire team’s chat with “I need a medic” from the other end of map. I would drop “possibly enemies” part.

would be useful for managing a larger team but they would definalty have to be a well orgonised clan and all be activly folowing orders

im not surprised that the commander roll was droped. to make it worthwhile having one a significant amount of power would have to be given to him but giving that much power and responsabilty to one player alone is asking for trouble and could make the match 80% a battle between commanders rather then the player in the teams

in an orgonised clan a commander does not need any extra powers just that his team will do as he says so he cna coordinate the attack

the best thing here ius the local chat tho. would have more of an impact if someone close called for cover fire so it was more personaly directed at you

Carnage: reading your posts is like decrypting hebrew, please get a translator :bash:

Weren’t all of these chats discussed in another thread? IMO it’s a good idea but then again they’re all in ET, except commander…
