addTorque incredibly inaccurate?

I attempted to use addTorque for a vehicle I was working on, but it seems to be quite horrible at appropriately applying energy. For example, when I screw with the desecrator’s addTorque usage, and crank up the power via script, it launches the vehicle across the map, but at an odd angle.

Has anyone else used addTorque? Am I using it wrong?
