Add punishment for leaving the game

(Tanker_Ray) #1

Edit : ooohh, so many disagrees! I just looove forum’s love and attention.

Just like the title.

There are lots of problems like frequent team switching(I use it for balance, but since I’m level 51, previous team mates seems not happy with me doing that.), pressing team shuffling before losing, but

why don’t we have penalties for abandoning the match?

If your game crashed or game shut down by computer problems, then how about popping up messages like ‘Will you re-join your current game? If you don’t there will be penalties’ after you re log-in?

All those unbalanced games like 4 vs 7 happens because of leaving nowadays.

Auto balancing for team population like ‘not allowing more than one player difference’ is important too(adjusting situations like 5 vs 7, or more than two guys difference), but I think this is the second topic, not top priority.

XP should count until you played, Yes, but leaving without any credit fees or other penalty is so absurd.

Uhh I’m sick of people leaving because they are losing. They ain’t got those strong will to turn the table.

We all play games to win, but we can’t always win, right? At least we all gotta struggle.

(Xan) #2

nah, thats the difference between pub and comp

(Jostabeere) #3

What if your Internet crashed and while you logged back in, someone else already joined?
AUTOMATIC PENALTIES FOR EVERYONE! WOO!

Now serious talk. No. This would be awful. Singleplayer games have a pause-button (Except for EA-games like NFS. They think an AAA-game doesn’t need one).

The aequivalent is the leave-button in online-games. This button is important, and if it wouldn’t be intended to leave a game, there wouldn’t be one.
What if I get a call? Neighbors ringing the door? My son is bleeding under our new glass-cabinet? I have to decide: Driving my son to the hospital, or not getting punished. Tough choice.

Threads like these is why the dislike button should’ve stayed.

(RyePanda) #5

Disagreeing is all that is necessary.

(Tanker_Ray) #6

Hmm… many disagrees. that surprises me…

May be I’m playing way too much DB because not always, but I do experience those several 4 vs 7 or 2 vs 6 games every single day…

Can you guys have any good ideas to stop people leaving then?

I know… but why not at least comp then?

I wasn’t saying this should apply to everyone… there are those people who sense their own ‘losing feelings’ and just leaving the game because they just don’t want to lose… They just abandon team and find another match, or switch to winning side without any penalties.

one person difference between team is ok, like 5 vs 6, or 7 vs 8, but more than 2 or 3 is so much burden for remaing people… and I always stayed for losing team for balance.

Even pub, I always played to win, struggled hard to contribute for my team, but with more possibility to lose caused by lacking people in my team? This made me so tired…

I am sorry you disliked it, but will you please suggest any good ideas for stopping players dumping their losing games?

Not always, but I do experience involved as fewer player team, and that is so painful…

Well that’s why I wrote

‘If your game crashed or game shut down by computer problems, then how about popping up messages like ‘Will you re-join your current game? If you don’t there will be penalties’ after you re log-in?’

So that you can re-join your game without any penalties when unexpected situation occurs.

I know it is total non sense if leaving penalties apply to everyone…

There is no good solution right now, if you get in to situations like 3 vs 7 when people just give up their game. I know only solution for that is me just leaving like they do, but I feel so sorry to remaining team mates who’s going to be stomped by bunch of enemies…

(Aazhyd) #7

The solution is autobalance, not penalties for leaving

(Tanker_Ray) #8

Well, it is free to dislike too…

I just want to know why, or any good ideas to stop it. May be I was dumb enough to overlook other important factors, who knows.

I was just tired of involving in teams with fewer players…

(Tanker_Ray) #9

Then, what would be the criteria for taking one guys from opposite side team?

If 5 vs 7 happens, one guy from 7 players team have to go to 5 player’s team right?

I think highest score, or lowest score both are not good… medium score? random? what might be the exact criteria?

(Dirmagnos) #10

Adding penalties for leavers in pub is like stopping a nosebleed by applying a touriquet on the neck. In terms of solutions.
It doesnt fix anything and will only harm game in general.
Out of all proposed solutions auto-balance would probably be best(and easiest) one.
Penalties, for anything, should be last resolve, when everything else fails. In this case not much have been done to resolve the problem to begin with.

Got it. Thanks for the disagree and reply!

Well, I just want to ask the same thing like I did to Aazhyd,

easiest way? player level, which sucks as a means to gauge player skill.
im currently lvl 14 and there are often times where my aim just eats a family-sized bag of dicks, and i never play fletchy, which everyone seems to think is pro-player bread and butter, i think. had a whiff one rotation and just said nah, im good, thanks.
(not to mention there was that one time a 58 was walking around with vassili and 3 kills to his name)

another is player stats, but which? gameplay xp? accuracy? k/d ratio? ping? all of them?

end of the day, there will always be people that say matchmaking could be better or something along those lines, and they will be correct, but its going to be damn hard to figure out how to improve it.

I see! seems like it’s the best for now…

I personally think Score/min is the most accurate, but medic’s support XP is way too superior… may be K/D, I’m not sure.

But I think at least if game is about to end, then game should stop you from leaving, because if this happens, highest level in the winning team is going to suffer to lose…

Thanks for your disagree and reply!

(Litego) #14

It’s a casual pub game, so no.

(Captain_Forward) #15

Autobalance will be a much better option. Any sorts of punishment in public games will be a huge failure and negative factor for the game overall.

(Amerika) #16

Since it’s a public server and not any kind of matchmaking you definitely should not be penalized for leaving if you want to leave. It’s kind of the point of open pubs. They are flexible and you can play exactly as long as you want and there isn’t any kind of commitment.

(DMaster2) #17

You lose the exp and the credits, as well as a possible equipment case dropping at the end of the match. Isn’t that enough punishment?

(XavienX) #18

This thread feels like cancer.
