Activision sets date for 1st quarter 08.

Well, i know it’s gonna come out when it’s done, but then tell me why activision is deciding it’s release date for (more than likely) the first quarter of 08. Befuddles me to a very odd, and yet sexy extent.

The company believes that its fourth quarter results will be significantly impacted by higher legal expenses relating primarily to its internal review of historical stock option practices, including expenses relating to the previously announced informal SEC inquiry and derivative litigation, and its decision to move the release of Enemy Territory™: QUAKE Wars into fiscal year 2008.

FWIW, fiscal year often isn’t the same as calender year. According to http://investor.activision.com/faq.cfm “Activision’s fiscal year runs from April 1 - March 31.”

Look at the title of the PR you linked “Activision Announces Record Third Quarter Fiscal Year 2007 Preliminary Results” (emphasis added)

FFS. “Fiscal year” can start any time. It depends WHOSE fiscal year you are talking about.

I posted a direct quote from ATVIs FAQ which tells you when theirs starts.

relax, the game calendar still holds. they say winter/spring, so it most probably will be end of spring then, in other words: 1st quarter of atvi fiscal year 08.

the only thing i hope is that they don’t delay it to 2nd quarter of fy 08 only to hype it with quakecon because quakecon sucks imo for those who can’t make it to get there. admitted, the vidz last year were awesome (and without roger of pq4 we would have got nothing at all), but this years quakecon should be full of peopz who are already into quake wars gaming & modding imo.

Don’t believe anything from stores, it’ll be out when it’s out. The only guys you could ask are the ones from SD, id or ATVI, but even they aren’t always right with their predictions… remembers ‘in 2006, sides will be chosen’ :nag:

I mean, it says winter/spring, but then again the bugger “Nothing is final” quote. And also the fact that they never listed anything for the 4th quarter. So I think it would be fiscal year 2007 Q4 and the fiscal year 2008 Q1 transition that we see the release, with it more likely to release after 2007 Q4 ends.
