Acquiring trinkets through accumulation of play time is (imo) a bad idea

If we were talking about just having the game open and idling then 60 hours during that timeframe it isn’t too awful. But this is 60 hours of being on a server and playing only. Not lobby time, opening case time, switching map time and probably not even warm-up time. It’s 60 hours of actual match minutes. And one major downside is there are going to be people who are going to try and AFK matches so they can get the snowman which is going to really hurt the game overall. Especially when legit players have a next to zero chance of acquiring it themselves due to what I cited above.

60 in-game hours is just unrealistic in the window of time given. I like the idea, just not a fan of that particular number. 30 hours is still a lot but it’s at least somewhat achievable by dedicated players without them thinking of trying to cheat the system.

I highyl doubt pectating will give you playtime.
I know that spectators got cases, so the chance is good that spectating also count as playtime.
Not true.

Whenever Ive spectated I got nothing. No credits, XP or weapon drops.

EDIT: Amending my post, now that Ive seen Amerika’s. I didnt realize that the play-time was only calculated through server time. If thats the case 60 hrs is way too much. That said, you still get the other 2 trinkets easily.

60 hours isn’t so much the issue for me, but that it’s over such a small space of time right in the middle of the period where a lot of people have other commitments. I’m also fine with not getting it and just accepting that it’s there for people who can sink that much time in that fast - but if it’s to encourage people to play more, I can see this causing people to binge and burn out more than anything.

First two trinkets are positioned very reasonably. That makes the time needed for the third one much more palatable. I can’t say I have much issue with it other than that the timing isn’t great - many people will not be playing as much or even at all for a few days due to holidays.

This will be a truly rare item. Not like Cobalts or even limited skins where you can just get lucky or throw money at the screen until you get it. There is only one way to get it and I like that.

While i do think that 60 hours is pushing it, its doable with a bit of effort.
And whole point of snowman trinket is to reward those who are willing to spend time to play game. Its a reward, for commitment - dont like it, stick with coal, difference is purely visual.
And giving out stuff purely based on logins is crap, to put it mildly. Its the worse idea ever.
AFK. I believe that botting is illegal and recording and reporting those losers would probably lead to some kind punishments, if not bans(that they actually deserve).
I could understand if DB would be giving away creds or cases, for those hours, but reward is a purely visual trinket, out of many to come.

Let’s be real here, it is impossible to create an event with content for everyone to truly enjoy, without literally handing out stuff willy nilly.

Playtime is one of the best ways to do this. So is logging in, and for those on holiday, simply going to an online microsite and maybe watching a trailer to redeem their cases or merc or whatever.

This is an improvement over the last events, so just play 3 hours and enjoy your cute piece of coal. I say the snowman does look dumb, but I still want it for… “authenticity.”
