accused of cheating...wrongly

hey all, i need some advice :slight_smile:

last night, i was accused of cheating on my favorite server, i’ve been hanging out there for months, having alot of fun and (or so i thought) meeting alot of cool new people.

Well, as you may already guess i was banned from the server, irc, and their forums. No real evidence was ever given, except for:

me: so why was i banned
admin: myself and the other admins ahve decided you’re cheating.
me: lol, never have, never will

here’s some of the ‘evidence’:

admin: your ability to fling yourself around the map
me: it’s called strafe jumping :stuck_out_tongue:
admin: plus you never miss
me: it’s called aim, and i’m not THAT good!
admin: HOW did you manage to get 4 stars in engi and only have one in battle sense?
me: i built alot of sh*t :slight_smile:

all of these people have demos of me supposedly ‘cheating’ - now i’m flattered and all, but i’m really only a semi-good ET player.

now, i really enjoy playing on the server, but maybe i’m just at a different skill level altogether. but i’ve been playing there for a very long time.

what kind of hacks could i possibly be using to move faster? lol. what kind of hacks give you more XP?

anyways, i’m very disappointed in all of this. I left the competitive scene so i could just chill out and have fun. But it seems like once you get to a certain skill level, everyone just going to be calling you a cheater and banning you, talking shit, etc…

What can a guy do? Am i supposed to play on a 486DX with a black and white tv or something? :slight_smile:

if thats the server it doesnt surprise me… there are a lot of good players being banned for no reason on that server

no, it was chigc. it’s a great server, and up until last night, i thought everything was hunky dorey.

i’ve asked the admin to please post these demos of me here on splashdamage. i’m sure he’ll agree.

i have a feeling there’s gonna be more good players banned from that server too. I’ve seen some great newcomers there, and as soon as they get even semi-decent, they’ll get banned just like me.

Ey shit storm is pretty good. There’s plenty of really good players there including some of the S.S. guys, and I never heard any cheating accusations.

Don’t just blabber out bullshit.

  • move faster hack is not available as far as i know
  • aimbots give you more xp indirectly, better aim is faster killing is less dieing yourself is more xp to battle sense, and you make mroe kills because you die less so also faster xp to light weapons.

but as eng it’s not a surprise to get to lvl 4 without any BS. most engis got that.

When accused of cheating I tend to fool a little with them. Say serious thing but use “dude” and 1337-speak a lot so they dont know if Im speaking truth or not.

Always gives me a laugh.

It’s frustrating to be accused of cheating and banned from a server. Your best bet is to email the admin of that server and see if you can resolve your issues there with him. I would not follow the advice of the one poster who suggested you delete your etkey and return to the server.

In the meantime, you are welcome to play on any of my servers. Good luck.

well, i have contacted the admin, it’s a dead deal. He believes i cheated, so it’s no use arguing with him, he’s a bit too hot headed to listen to reason anyway. Me begging him to be unbanned is just going to make his head swell to even larger proportions.

It might seem like i’m making a big deal outta this, but in reality, it’s not.

just avoid chigc’s server, there’s better ones out there anyways…

Unfortunately i’ve never been accused of cheating. What’s even worse, more than once ppl suggested i should use an aimbot (although i already did) to finally hit stuff. :bored:

Well I supppose I should respond to login/xion whatever name he wants to use to get whatever clout he can.

Many of my admins had talked to me in regards to suspicion that ‘login’ was cheating on my server. I told them all that I wanted demos of him playing on there.
Demos I have now.

Also login did contact me in irc, and we talked, I even was allowed access to his machine via TightVNC to search for any sign of cheats. I did not find any, I’ll be honest. But then there was that really weird (failed) DDoS that was strangely happening at the same time on chigc.
I told login that I’d be reviewing the demos I’d made plus the demos from my admins, and that I’d get back to him. Since then he has repeatedly circumvented my attempts to exclude him from chigc’s forums, I don’t know, but likely even been back on the game server. Plus his constant harrasment in IRC has led me to putting him on /ignore to which he’s circumventing that.
And then on chigc’s forums, he made a post on there trying to stir things up, we’ll call it flaming. I deleted the post for obvious reasons. And then in the ‘chatbox’ on the site voicing accusations of censorship?!?!

I don’t know where he came up with the idea that my server was a democratic server. No one has any rights unless I or another top level admin grant such rights. No one has a vote on anything unless I permit it. If people are on there being offensive, or generally an ass, I delete the post, plain and simple.

This started out a ban for cheating that could have been over-turned.
Login has taken it to levels where I refuse to make any concessions to him.
He’s paid for nothing on the server, he HAS NO RIGHTS to it. He claims to be 27 years of age. Why can’t he show any maturity in this matter and just accept his ban?
I stress again, he’s done NOTHING for me or the server, he has no rights to any of chigc’s services. I owe him nothing, nor any of my chigc admins. Well, no, I have a bunch of hard drive space taken up by he and his firends’ spurious network activity directed at chigc in the form of logs. I can thank him for that. If I recall correctly, when I asked him about that, he responded with something to the effect of “I can’t be responsible for my friends’ actions.” This being true, someone had to give the order or plant the idea to do something.

i realize this is going to have some undesired effects for myself and chigc in the et community, say for example, inter-server-admin relations. Say like between ND80 and I. We’ve spoken before in regards to a former admin of mine that was caught cheating on one of his servers and added to the Hall of Shame. (Note that person is no longer an admin for chigc, nor a ordinary player.) ND80 seems to me to be ‘good people’, although honestly I’ve never checked out any of his servers. I consider him one of my ‘peers’ as far as server admins go. I realize that the stink that login is creating is going to cast a bad light on myself and chigc, and possibly shift some peoples’ opinions of me and/or chigc.com, that’s ok, I accept the fate I’ve made for myself. Sure, I could crumble and offer some sort of appology to login, but I’m not going to. I have no reason to do so, and I’ve got so many reasons not to. I don’t mind that some people don’t like my server. I don’t run it for them. I run it for the people that do like the server. The fresh maps, the fast downloads, the experience saving, lots of things that people come to my server for. Players, mappers, modders, all of them come and are welcome.

Abix, this is, like i said, a DEAD ISSUE. Your treatment of me, and your countless FALSE accusations such as saying i had anything to do with a dDos attack on your server, or that i added your email addy to spam lists, it just childish and wrong.

If this is the way that you act, then you’ve made many worse enemies then myself, obviously MANY, i said it before, and i’ll say it again: i want nothing to do with your server, or your hotheaded ways. It’s just a game man, and it sure isn’t fun the way you play it.

And giving out my name does nothing, we all have better things to do with our time then spend it hanging out on your poor excuse of a server.

This is totally unrelated to your conversation but i think is an issue that concerns us all.

Are there any hacks out there that give the player extra health.

I was shooting this guy at point blank right in the head and he just wouldn’t die. I must’ve spent some 15 bullets on him before he finally went down. I know I was hitting him in the head cause the second bullet popped his helmet off. Then it was blood from all over.

He was an engineer. And I know that with shrub you can preserve your adrenaline and flack jacket. But he wasn’t in a place where he would use adrenaline.

Anyway are there any hacks that give people a lot of health or armor of some kind. Maybe there’s a hack that gives you constant adrenaline

Short answer No, because health is awarded server side, there’s nothing you, the client, can do to influence it.

Two possible explanations:-

  1. The server might have been running with cheats enabled (sv_cheats 1). This is a server side setting that only the server admin could enable, but if it’s set you can type /god in the console and get infinite health. I’m not sure if this works with Punkbuster also enabled however, plus you said he went down eventually, so that probably isn’t the explanation here.

  2. Lag. What you see on your screen is not necessarily the server’s take on what’s happening, and as the server awards hits and damage, not you, you could appear to be hitting him but you’re actually missing the target with most shots. Play on antilag servers and you have a better chance that “what you see is what you hit”.

sounds like a noob server to me.

client side cheats cant override XP or movement speed.

no way to reason with an admin who thinks like that, just move on to a better server without noobs.
