ability cooldowns

example: using skyhammer, as of right now, when you use his ability, the cooldown starts. you play for about 15 seconds, die, switch to a different merc. you play him for about 5 minutes, then come back to skyhammer and you still have a 30 second cooldown on his ability. correct me if i am wrong please.

my suggestion is to have the cooldown keep going down even when you switch to a different merc. it doesnt make sense to have a possible 5 minute and 15 second cooldown on an ability.

Thing is, your example isn’t what most people would do. They would use their airstrike, play another merc for 1 minute, switch back to Skyhammer and repeat.

ok, well what about maybe implementing like a system where if you havent played the merc for like a minute, reset the ability and make it usable again? idk. it just doesnt seem right to still have a cooldown after not playing a merc for a decent amount of time.

If that happens than it will be raining airstrikes all day everyday.

it will rain the same amount and possibly more airstrikes if people DONT switch to another merc. a cooldown is a cooldown. i feel the ability should reset after 45 seconds actual game time no matter what.

Yeah and if they don’t switch, all they can do is throw ammo packs until they get their airstrike back, rather than use another merc’s abilities.

Running cooldowns are an ability abuse. It’s fair as it is at the moment.

if you wanna play lame like that and abuse the self kill lol and you would still have to worry about respawn wave timer so you couldnt just do them all in 5 seconds

It would be disadvantageous to have artillery only mercs in the first place.

Lol, a cooldown is a cooldown and if I have 3 mercs that can use an airstrike ability then I should be able to use it until it goes on cooldown.

Why resets the cooldown when I switch mercs?

It doesn’t reset, it just doesn’t go down unless you are using that merc.

ok, ok. one last suggestion that may be a liked a little more? but maybe not cause everyone apparently loves how the cooldowns work right now. final suggestion: reset the ability and make it usable again if you have not played the merc for at least 2-3 minutes. this sounds reasonable to me.
