ability cooldowns

I wouldn’t mind a reset like that for certain abilities, like Aura’s health station, health packs for the mercs that use them, and Kira’s ammo station. Basically support abilities would benefit from this without making the game kind of dumb. While I do agree that it would be nice to have skills reset after a period of time of not playing the merc, I can’t really seeing it fit in with the way the game currently works.

No, all that would do if give an airstrike to every merc as long as the player has Skyhammer in their squad.

If you use the ability of a merc then you should have to play as that merc while the ability is on cooldown if you want to use that ability again, rather than just switch to a merc with a spammy ability such as Fletcher or Nader.

it seems like you are so against my suggestion that now you are coming up with these arguments that dont even make sense. how would it be “spammy” to use an ability, switch to a different merc for 3 minutes, switch back then use it again. using an ability once every 3 minutes, in my opinion, is NOT spammy.

It doesn’t make sense to you because you didn’t read it properly.

This is how it would go

  1. Skyhammer - Airstrike
  2. Switch to Fletcher
  3. Fletcher - Spam sticky bombs for 2-3 minutes
  4. Switch to Skyhammer
  5. Repeat

It doesn’t matter if the cooldown is 1 minute or 5 minutes, that’s what people would do.

so why is that a bad thing? i could understand if it was straight one ability spam, but its not. you havent been hit by an airstrike in 3 minutes by one guy. “omg that guy hit me with ANOTHER airstrike when i just got killed by one from him 3 minutes ago” you use a merc for his abilities right? what is a skyhammer without an airstrike or ammo packs? a dude with an m4. this game is made around mercs AND their abilities. if i cant use an ability after not playing a guy for 3 minutes, then whats the point?

Because in the meantime you are using another merc’s abilities, rather than stick with the cooldown.

Lets say we got this, cooldown reseted every minute, Squad is Skyhamer, Arty, Nader.

  1. I use skyhammers airstrike destroy the ev.
  2. They fixed it fast so instead fo waiting my airstriek i suiside on 0:04 and i pick Arty - i destroy ev again
  3. And again if they repair i suiside and go for nader , spam the shit out it on ev - tada ev down,
  4. And so on … 1,2,3 minutes past i go back to skyhammer and bam i can use my airstrike again without waiting… -.-

It would be such a disaster, now if i trow my airstrike i can change to arty and do that too but if i go back to skyhammer i need to wait for cooldown and think about when i am gonna use it same as with arty (am i gonna use it to kill enemy or am i gonna save it for ev -tip- if u are only skyhammer on defence on chapel save it for ev) it would be abused to much, can’t u understand that.
The way it is right now is perfect!

self killing is abused anyways. idk why it is even in the game. i see people doing it in comp just to get a reset with their team. it even ruins the fun of watching from spectator point of view. “ok, one guy alive. can he do something amazing for his team? oh…he just self killed to spawn with the rest of his team…” totally anticlimactic. and also, why have a guy with ammo packs when you can just self kill for more ammo? i see problems with self kill on its own. being able to do that seems to be the problem with my suggestion, not the suggestion itself. take out self kill and its gold. but yes, i see your point.

[/quote] probably because of the failure of the team to supply ammo because no one cares to play ammo supplier. You have a primary, secondary and melee weapon so you got to learn how to use it and forage for your necessities. While dieing to get ammo resupplied is a solution, it’s not always the best.

i disagree with the suggestion because it will only lead to constant spam and defense will be even easier than it is. basically what every one else is saying.
