You know… Normally I would laugh at this and find it amusing. Although, with Splash Damage, I don’t know anymore whether they’re joking/kidding/being funny or if they’re actually being serious. I wouldn’t be surprised if he really has no idea. When you have devs that confirm with a scary amount of confidence that Vassili can hipfire with his sniper rifle after being asked the question “Is there any plans to bring back jumpsniping since Vassili is the only one who cannot hipfire with his primary weapon?”… It’s special.

But I’ll give Exedore the benefit of the doubt and agree that he’s just being funny.

So… haha. Ha…

yeah I don’t really get that either. I wish they would at least say what they are thinking about for him. It would at least allow the community to give some input before the thing comes out. Not that the community knows better about the future phantom update that the people who have used him at SD, however, it can always be useful to say “I don’t think that will work very well because”. Oh well.

What the heck to they know better ? Some player here must have played twice the number of hour they did. And yes thats what matters, not their bs statistic.

Well this feels horrible.
I played against Exedore and some other people with “SD” tags before and while I’m aware that it’s they’re job so they probably don’t play the game for funsies every day, I do expect some level of skill when playing against them.
After missing exactly that my last expectation was, that at least they should know everything behind the scenes.

I’m gonna be that guy for a minute, So bear with me.

The players got themselves into this situation in the first place with phantom. The amount of i quit!, omg wtf phantom is killing this game threads after his release was insane. He was new, people didn’t know how to counter him etc. Now i’m not saying he didn’t need to be tweaked after his release but since all of the whiny crybabies blew some things way out of proportion, the devs dropped the hammer and we have todays phantom.

Moral of the story players don’t always know best

I did not play phantom or the game before the nerf but I’ve been playing phantom now, I’m not great at him yet I find his smg’s super underwhelming to the point I use his secondary as a primary. and though (on occasion) I pull off some awesome kill streaks with his melee it usually puts you in more dangerous positions than not.

the turn on his melee right click is so slow Its far to risky to use it unless A. the enemy has there back turned and its a confirmed kill or B. the enemy dug them selves into a corner and you long jump into right click on them. not to mention he is highly reliant on his Phantana that there are so many useless load-outs with no Phantana.

I think his stealth is OK imo, I find its hard to be seen as long as your smart about moving around and sticking to corners and walls and not walking out in the open, I kinda wish it worked a bit more like the cloak and dagger (https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Cloak_and_Dagger) from TF2 where It drains on movement only rather than over time and when you run out of stealth your translucent but fully visible like your running animation.

Problem:
Phantom needs to be more of a team player. Spotting ability (since he is a recon) or explosives (to make him an assault). Better cloak can’t fix everything. Crotchni Sawbonez, or R23 Proxy can kill a Phantom any day, not anywhere close to op. I’d say he’s deeply underpowered.

his smg’s were nerfed and it just feels like his pistol takes people out quicker, I use his smg’s mainly at mid range when ever I can fit it in but close range skirmishes I use his pistol, which is a majority of the time since you have to sneak in to melee
