A wolf ET thing that is bugging me

(signofzeta) #1

Not to resurrect old topics, but why is it that in the central europe loading screen, where they show the locations of the maps, they show Radar where Fuel dump should be and Fuel dump where Radar should be?

In ET, Fuel dump is in the center of germany and Radar is in sweden. In real life, there is a place called Wurzburg in the center of germany.

Also Radar is placed in the white section of the map while Fuel dump is placed on the green section. Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

At this point, I don’t think anyone cares enough to fix it. And honestly, it would not be worth the time.

If something like this happened in ETQW, it would be one of those last things to fix. Unless the contaminator is pointed at the ark and the ark is pointed at the contaminator bugs the majority.

Actually, “Würzburg” isn’t the name of the city but the codename of the radar… (like “Dora”, the railgun).

I hope this site isn’t fake but wurzburg is actually a city.

http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&tab=wl&q=

The guy who made the radar liked geographical names so he named the radar Wurzburg

Also Wurzburg was around in the time of the war.

Wurzburg is located in central germany near bavaria.

Also Wurzburg radars are actually real

Railgun dora is also real.

In W:ET, the whole axis team would be needed to fire the railgun if it were real life.

Here is another site about dora

I’m sure you can go there sometime seeing that it is pretty much local for you. Well if you live in the berlin area, then it is pretty much not local as it is too far away. It is in the center of germany.

(CooperHawkes) #7

I know the city of Würzburg… always traffic jams on highway #3 there…
Still, I don’t get your point why all Würzburg radars have to be placed around Würzburg and why there should not be any of these radars scattered somewhere around Sweden…
Or do you simply refer to the snow / not snow setting? Even Sweden is sometimes without snow…

We also have Hamburgers in Sweden. :moo:

Anyway:

“Eventually over 4,000 Würzburgs of various models were produced. It took its name from the city of Würzburg for no other reason than the project leader liked geographical names.”

What they said.

I think the Radar was based on the british mission ‘Operation Biting’ in Bruneval, France.

Afaik the colors of the loading screen map (should) indicate the climate of the map:
Green: temperate (radar, …)
White: snow (railgun, …)
Yellow: desert (oasis, …)

(signofzeta) #12

And radar is placed in the white area whereas fueldump is placed in the green area. Does not affect gameplay and ET is like 4 years old now so it would be a waste of time to fix it.

Just pointing the glitch out.

How dare you?! :stuck_out_tongue:

(signofzeta) #14

well the radar/fueldump part of the game though. They would rather fix gameplay issues than a glitch that places locations in the wrong parts of the map.

Besides they have Quake wars to worry about. Hopefully a glitch like that does not happen in quake wars. I speculating the contaminator is a glass dome while the ark is a wierd building.

(Flesh) #15

imo great timing

edit: when you look at the topic title it almost reads like: “A wolf ET thing that is hugging me”

(Dazzamac) #16

This is possibly the most pointless topic since “I want a demo!” or “This game is soooo like BF2”

(kamikazee) #17

This is soooo 2002.
