Intel Pentium M 1.5ghz
512mb PC2100 (233mhz) ram
nVidiaâ„¢ GeForceâ„¢ 5200 with 32MB DDR Memory

Is it worth my while buying doom3?

The specs state you have at least a 64 mb Nvidia or ATi video card to play doom 3 so your 32 mb card wont cut it . If you want to go the affordable route , pick up a 128 mb video card (ati or nvidia) or if you have plenty of cash on hand, splurge on 256 card. Seeing that you have a pentium M chip , I’m guessing you have a laptop, if you do then get a new laptop with better video memory or buy a new desktop puter taking in consideration to the video card suggestions above.

P.S. - Doom 3 will run on a computer with Intel Extreme Graphics 845GL IGP chips but expect choppy play and weird shadowing ( for example , people’s faces will be split in half with half being shadows and the other half being lit) but the game is still very playable.

So you’re saying I can’t run it? Or that I can it will just be very poor?
I am very poor, so new graphics card isn’t on the cards for a while :frowning:

Aren’t I poetic?

Yeah it is a laptop.

Now concentrate.

32MB Video Card = No DooM 3.

I’ve still got an old TNT2 and I’m too lazy/cheap to bother with a new card. I’m just gotta grab it on XBox.

ID also say you need a card with 512MB video memory to be able to run it at Ultra settings, yet with a 128MB you can still run it at that level, just be prepared for some annoying pauses when you enter new rooms so it can load the textures. I imagine the same sort of thing would apply for running low settings on a 32MB card, you’d most likely still be able to run it but not be able to play without pauses. To be honest, Doom3 is all about the graphics so just because you can run it when it looks bad doesn’t mean you should. It’s just an average shooter if you can’t see the amazing visuals, I’d hold off buying it until you have a comp that can do the game justice.

There’s a demo due very soon, you could always wait and try that if you want.

Right, let me tell u my story:

Centrino 1.4GHz
640MB ddr ram
Geforce 4 4200 Go! 32MB

It runs d3 on medium settings at 25 fps, no stuttering.

Thank you.

I have a 2 year old Dell with pentium 4 (2,0 Ghz), 512 RAM, geforce 3 (ti-series 64mb). Doom3 singleplayer runs ok. Sometimes it lags when I enter new rooms/hallways (because there are new monsters in there that pop out). I have the settings that the game recommended when it was installed. I guess I could tweak it a little if I wanted to.

I have a Duron 1.4, 512MB SDRAM, GeForce4 4200 TI 64MB… D3 is unplayable even at LOW and 640x480 :frowning:

well, the centrinos are wierd, my 1.4 is prolly the equivelent of a p4 2.4, the duron is prolly letting you down :frowning:
