A team chat idea.

Figure this I am a spy and want to give an impression that I am a member of the axis team (but I am really a member of the allied team) now if someone says something to me in his own teamchat like “you there take that mg!” I can’t hear it right? And if I want to say something like “look behind you!” I can’t say it in axis team chat and so they will suspect me.

So what I am trying to say is that shouldn’t the spy/secret ops person be able to chat in the team that he has disguised to.

A question: Are the audio commands hearable throughout the server or are they hearable only to a range?

if you use a team voice chat, your whole team will hear it.
if you use a global chat, everyone will hear it.

Well… i guess technically the Axis will be speaking German to each other (of course the voice chats are in english or else we wouldn’t understand) and the Allied will be speaking English with each other. So guess that’s why it doesn’t flow.

or here’s an idea that might incorporate your idea, level 4 covert ops, -Bilingualism-

But I mean will the ones further away hear it more quiet than those sitting next to me.

I am pretty sure american spies learned German and Vice-versa.

And I agree it is a good idea to give bilinguism as level X skill for covert ops.

Yeah for 3 or 4.

Oh! An educational purpose to learn German  kidding… enjoy the game.

hehe Cosmos, I am learning German next year in school, will make my 5th language :).

I think making an actual “statement” would be a bad idea. OTOH, say when a cov-ops makes lvl 4 have them able to hear what the other team is talking about would be fair. Maybe have it pop up as different text color. Like the old TFC spy ability when he was close enough, could “Pick up” team chat.

But the cov ops is already a lethal class as is. Why give it any more?

Well, when a Cov ops steal a ennemy uniform, He Undeniably picks up the Radio, So make it he only hear radio messages. Before he gets bilinguism he can’t understand what is said, so he “shut down” the radio. After that he can keep it open and listen to it.

I think the idea of bilinguism is a GREAT one.

and Covops is a lethal class, but against well trained player, covops can be useless, since personally, I always check players, with the Disappearing name thing, works 99% of the time :), the other 1% I am getting knifed :frowning:

Presumably players are speaking to each other via some form of radio system.

If it were me, I’d arrange it so that players who are close enough can overhear nearby chatter - in the same way as enemy cries for "Medic! can currently be overheard in ET. Nice touch, that.

I still recall one newbie in the early days of RtCW who kept getting annoyed at people using chat because he believed that it gave away the locations of the home team

I’m guessing that those of you with two ears get a lot of directional information from in-game sounds (I have to guess at this because only one of my ears works).
