Although this is unlikely to be the first time it’s ever happened, it was the first time I’ve seen it.
On a server today (won’t name it because normally it’s a very good server) the Allied team of which there were 11 were deliberately voting off anyone who posed a threat on the opposing team. Even if teams looked like being balanced on numbers the bvotes would start.
It was truly shameful to see such a pathetic abuse of the system.
Unfortunately i have also seen this disgracful behavior and some other rtcw players have also said the same. This will only serve to drive away the good players and bring the game down.
As I said in a previous post I think the voting system needs to be slightly modified.
It would have been just one or two people actually trying to vote good players off and the rest were just lemmings. I would like to see a text field that you can put your reason for trying to kick someone.
I have seen this ‘tactic’ attempted many times. Most of the time people have a bit of common sense to realise why the vote was called and won’t vote the person off. Unfortunately some people just vote yes to any kick without thinking at all.
Yep, seen it happen on servers a few times as well - maybe we’re playing on the same servers Really annoying. I bet my behind hose who do that probably never played regular RTCW, never seen anything like that there and I’ve played that since it was released. Easiest way to avoid it, don’t play on those servers or just note who the n00bs are and don’t play on servers they’re on - alternatively try to kick/ban them if you see them on other servers. They’ll be very lonely very soon.
I thought it was just one or two idiots doing it at first too. But when I twigged it was one guy calling all the votes, I voted to get him kicked and all the others voted no. Then naturally he voted to kick me, but somehow I stayed on by one vote (must be my natural charm ) and went on to see them vote another three players off before I left.
I too have never seen anything of this sort in RTCW. I guess when you pay for a game you aren’t so quick to screw it up for everyone else. All the dickheads in the world probably feel justified in ruining everyones games now because it’s free.
how about a little modification to the vote system:
during a vote to kick a player: if the player is in my team my vote counts twice as much as the vote from a member of the opposing team.
That way it’s easier to kick TKs (because the ones in the teams with the TK usually know why the person should be kicked and vote yes so players from the other team voting no have little chance to influence the vote) while the vote you described (trying to vote out the good players of the opposing team) are far less likely to succeed !
That sounds like a good idea to me. I was trying to think of a downside, but I can’t.
Let’s not forget that if the server is PB-enabled we can also employ the pb_kick. This is useful on servers where the admins give greater power to regular players who have demonstrated they are responsible and fair.
Share-My-Story Time™:
Shortly after I started playing RtCW, I joined some random server for some mindless fragging. I start to see all these votes to kick people coming up - which is pretty annoying. So when teh next one came up I asked what they had done to deserve getting kicked. I got an “F*** you” response and then they called a vote to kick me and I was booted. Oh well. My only regret is that I didn’t take note of the server name to avoid it in the future.
Actually, this sort of thing happend a lot in the early days of RTCW. It will settle out, IMO. Having the option to give a reason when you call the vote would be a good thing.
Another thing that would be nice is limiting the number of votes a single person can call in a round. Actually, that might already be a server option…
I was just playing on a server and the admin was pissed the allies snuck thru with a covert to blow the fuel dump. He said if we did it again we would be kicked.
One good reason not to have a message identifying who planted the dyna

Well it would be nice to be honoured more by planting the dynamite which finishes off the round. But like you said, people might kick the person who planted it if they are losers. In that case, they shouldnt play the game. But the Engineer is rewarded more than any other class. We still need all our over classes but the engineer is the guy that finishes the level. For those “steal the documents” objectives they also come in handy there. Without the engineer we would be lost without them.
