A new game allready 'in progress' ?

(NoSoup4U) #1

In the Job-section, SD is asking for new people for a ‘quake 3 engine’ game : I wondered ; Are you guys talking about ET in here , or even better : A new game in the making by Splashdamage ? (allthough a company offcourse can’t reveal all their secrets, a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ could do here  )

And one little question about ET : Is there allready a rough release date set ? Like, this summer ? Or should we be looking forward to an earlier date ?

/me wished he had taken last December to finish up his portfolio :frowning:

Who knows how off the mark this may be but apparently the date was recently set as 28/03/03 ?

Lets see…

Don’t care when meself

I’m afraid ‘When it’s finished’ is the best answer I can give on the release date. I actually prefer ‘when it’s done’ but id rightly pointed out to me that it’s their phrase :twak:

As for us hiring, we’re still looking for people for Enemy Territory. Our (current) studio philosophy is to only work on one game at a time; on account of us lacking the dicipline needed to handle anything more complex

i’ll be a geneipig (spelling?)
i love betas i helped one of the testers for well know game for a while just driving around on consant rampages, stealing cars, doing missions, crashing in to shit, all for the glory of finding bugs and i think the only one that was found while i was there is still in the game with the writing “your not supposed to be here” spray painted on the wall, i like it when programers leave shit in games, i also only know of one other person who has been there in the completed game.

beta beta beta beta beta beta beta gimme a shot :rocker2:

We’re really looking forward to getting a test version of ET out there - it’ll help with game balance and identify any weaknesses in game-play/code speed.

At some point in the near future we also hope to recruit a couple of play-testers who would work full-time at Splash Damage’s offices here in London - and as our mission is always to provide the best enviroment and pay package we can, I imagine this would be a pretty cool job to go after - especially for someone who loves games and is unsure about what to do career wise - it would have been my dream job when I was younger!

So it’ll pay well, involve playing ET all day (which can’t be bad!) and include attending all our milestone parties, weekly alcohol binges, hanging out here and multiplayer LAN games with everyone here

More news when it’s the right time. We’ll definitely be most interested in people on the forums here who already give us great feedback (especially the amazing QA test team who have shown dedication that makes me feel quite emotional) than just advertising the jobs around the net. I wouldn’t be suprised if we advertise the jobs exclusively here.

If you have put the same kind of energy and have gotten the same kind of intense enjoyment out of making ET as you did out of making Market Garden - Then I would Love to beta test.

The sheer depth of detail and playability that went into it literally shines through - (esp the inclusion of the “Goldmine” and the “useful” ledges added surreptitiously into the map) If Rtcw : ET is even 1 / 10th of that, Then I would relish any chance to look at it further.

Keep the same spirit up guys - You sure as hell have the ability - Now turn that into realisation.

If there was ever a time to use the expression; “you hit the nail on the head”, this would be the time to use it… cause that’s exactly what my dream “job” is! Hehe

Only prob is that I live in the US and Splash is in the UK. :frowning: Maybe external beta testing? Rest assured, you would have 110% dedication from me. One can only hope!

Will you be offering beta-positions to UK-residents only ?
As a trip across the Canal is not that hard for me to make

Will applications be accepted for this most coveted of jobs?

(Locki) #12

People are always welcome to send applications to info@splashdamage.com. You don’t have to be a UK resident, but you do need to be able to work legally in London. We are always looking for someone. We take almost as long to recruit people, as we used to take getting Q3F patches done

We will always be interested in hearing from anyone in the community who considers themselves talented in Art, Programming, Design, or production skills (play-testing included).

Does employment in London without actually residing in London require a work visa, then?

(Salteh) #14

I can in London in digital form if you want to Paul
