if you see a thread title like “a little scared” you should have some idea that that’s not what it’s going to be. And I’ll happily take your label of “naysayer” if that’s the only way I can discuss the game as a person and not a sheep.
Mmm, yeah. My understanding of the meaning of “arcade” in this community was, people bounce around an arena shooting rockets at each other. Quake/UT. That would be as opposed to realism where people people walk/crawl around a large field killing each other with insta-gib (or OHK, as it’s now called) wind/gravity affected bullets (not hitscan ofc). Delta Force/OFP. And, obviously, most modern games are nowhere close to either extreme.
BC2 doesn’t fall at the ‘arcade’ criticism at all imo. The only reason people say that is because it’s rather realistic for the most part except it takes loads of bullets to kill people if you just spray around.
COD is pretty much the definition of arcade games nowadays, there is no ‘deepness’ in the game, in a sense it is just a highly polished version of pac-man if pac-man was a soldier enemies are ghosts and you have to collect bombs / flags.
There is no sense of real teamplay, it just kinda happens sometimes and you can get away with running around with only a knife and still end up as highest fragger.
Not that there is anything wrong with arcade games, there good for quickly blowing off some steam, but if your really looking for a game you can play for a few hours every day and keep the interest then it’s not really what you’re looking for.
COD is just basically a massive grind to get to prestige 100 or whatever it is now. If you play it for longer then an hour a day or so.
