A little scared

(xTriXxy) #21
I’m afraid that most of the FPS-playing community will not “get it”.
exactly. who cares. myself as “gamer” i dont care if others will “get it” or not.
i hope, in second part of game[“Brink 2” ?] SD developers will add “programmer” class and even “manager”.
both will become antagonistic[against each other] and become VERY specialised[ingame].
this characters will have access to unique clothes, like “bisiness suit” and “gucci shoes”, for example.
brbrbr and what about syssy parfume editor?

(Apples) #22

a tad larger than etqw [community] will be enough [to me].

[peace]

(Senethro) #23

No, still looks like people just throwing around the word arcade to mean things they don’t like and are not good at.

(brbrbr) #24
nah.
“producer” class will be reserved for Third part of game, i guess.
or even postponed, because irrecoverable bug with device, which stuck in producer prototype, beard.

p.s.
not all publishers will same. as well as producers are.

(Apples) #25

Remember that any little criticism isnt allowed here weapuh! You’ve been warned once! Now stay on the line and do NEVER cross it again!

Criticism is only allowed @ 600+ post, if not you are obviously a noob, and we do not care about noob point of view.

Ffs how do I raise these kidz!

And btw Q3 to me is more arcadish than bc2 or CoD and its not at all a pejorative word, I guess its just a matter of definition.

Peace

(Dormamu) #26

… who is calling for me?
also… my point of view is:

(Jess Alon) #27
Who cares if others “get it?” Yes, I know people want a thriving community and all, but really, if people buy it and don’t like it - f*** em’.

I’ll still be having fun whether they “get it” or not.
In agreement regardless of people being a little scared before the damn game comes out.

BTW wanna play some 4v4 bc2 sometime this week?

Just take the word out of rotation. It’s aggravating. It’s like seeing a five year old with a cell phone. Why does a five year old have a cell phone? Why does that bother me so much? I don’t know why. Maybe I wonder who the hell a five year old even talks to on the phone that they would need a personal cell phone. And then when people start in with this trite talk about a game being “arcade” it actually offends me because I enjoy gaming down to the very core of it. I’m not a freaking snob critic that needs to coin some snob phrase for it. And crap like calling a game like Brink that’s trying something different “bordering on arcade” or “CODish” or whatever stupid crap these hipster gamers come up with bugs the everliving crap out of me. Because I actually love games. I’ve loved them since I was a child and games make me remember fun times.

And that doesn’t make me a troll.

That makes the person who tries to cheapen a new and exciting idea with their personal superiority complex and convoluted way of speaking a troll.

I know Brink won’t be perfect. But I’d like the naysayers to give it a rest. Or at least admit that’s what you are. Because so many people will say, “I’m excited about this game.” and by the time I get to the end of the thread I wish I hadn’t opened it. Because I just wanted to share in the excitement and it’s always some person saying that the way things are being done is wrong and being a total ass about it.

So don’t blame me for being a total ass.

your opinion is cancelled.

(Jess Alon) #30

Nothing is perfect. Especially nothing that hasn’t even been released.

(xTriXxy) #31

but you already know brink wont be perfect.

(Jess Alon) #32

Don’t make me give you the bad touch.

(Weapuh) #33

Jess, once again missing the point, not sure who said Brink was arcadish or anything near, it seems its just that word that drives you crazy. So I’ll be blunt, most FPS games are crap, and devs give you crap for so long, crap becomes the norm. So if people don’t “get it” it will die. And i don’t like perfectly great games to die.

ETQW was 1000 times more balanced than anything out there these days, from the mapping to the mechanics of the core game. Now another amazing game is coming out with an artistic approach in the design and story-telling (YAY) but as someone stated, you need a community. So if i am a snob it’s cause Games mostly garbage and people have come to expect that, and to not accept that makes you a snob?

They may have bent over a little bit ( as SockDog said) to allow new players to understand and learn how to love something that truly is great(power to SD  ). There is nothing wrong with showing people what you love to do, it’s kinda wrong really if you just say “dont like it, GTFO LOL NOOB!” < lol just having fun

(Humate) #34

It doesnt make you a troll. It doesnt make you anything.
But it does demonstrate a need to change things the way they are.

And the way it is - people will give both positive and negative opinions on this forum.
Its easy to label them as “naysayers” just as easy as it is to call them “sd fanbois”… but the reality is, their opinions come from a place where they want the game to succeed.

(Damblo) #35

I wouldnt mind this game being arcade-y (?) so long as its not pacman.

I just think if you have such a high factor of respect for these guys that are releasing this game… then maybe you should trust them to do a good job. And the arcade comment to me is the same as people who know nothing about art going to an art show and calling the art “drab” or some crap like that. That stuff gets under my skin because it’s pretentious and there’s just no reason for pretense in my opinion.

Sidenote: Not a fanboy. Didn’t know crap about splash damage TIL brink. I’m excited because I’ll be able to get friends of mine on xbox live to play with me who HATE most multiplayer experiences. It looks like a fair and balanced game.

Edit: For everyone too. Not just the casual gamer. But for everyone. And it looks to some extent like there’s a margin of overlap where a hardcore gamer can play on the same team as a less skilled gamer and it can work. And I honestly find that enlightening.

(Weapuh) #37

Well I’m sorry Jess for the misunderstanding, but i never said this game was arcadish, just that we live in an arcade game reality(where most games are). Not that it is horrible and wrong. Sorry for using the drab label :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll just call things crappy from now on. I like Adam Sandler movies from time to time, but if every movie had Adam Sandler in it would kinda be crappy for the medium.

And i guess I am kinda a fanboy of SD, and not cause it’s cool to like smaller studio’s like people love indie bands nobody has ever heard of, I just really respect the designers. Don’t see much wrong with it if i have a legit reason.

I am quite excited because people, good and who think they are good don’t need to bark orders because the game rewards you for being a good team player (buffs ect) It is kinda enlightening

Just like two forum posters can settle their differences and fall in lo… nvm

Being offended on an internet forum is the first step into madness you know?

If people fear that Brink will be lame or not what they do expect, who are you to tell them to gtfo? I do prefer an attitude where people express their opinion in an argumented way because all you’ve said so far is “I dont like blind naysayer who dislike the game while it’s not even out”, but to me you are as blind as them and falling in love for something you never played yet, I guess its again the paradox of the half empty / full glass there. But I dont like your attitude…

And the “dont blame me for being an ass” seriously? OFC I’ll blame you for being an ass, its like saying “hi there I’ll kill 3 people today but dont blame me for thata heh, they offended me”… Being responsible for your act is a good start to be credible imo, I kinda like your way to stick to your opinion tho, but being extreme is never the right way to me.

That said, you havent 600+ post yet so I wont listen to you EVER!

Peace

Sad bastard. (best put a smiley here)

Anyway I hope brink is arcadish and not realisticish.

(BioSnark) #40

if you see a thread title like “a little scared” you should have some idea that that’s not what it’s going to be. And I’ll happily take your label of “naysayer” if that’s the only way I can discuss the game as a person and not a sheep.

Mmm, yeah. My understanding of the meaning of “arcade” in this community was, people bounce around an arena shooting rockets at each other. Quake/UT. That would be as opposed to realism where people people walk/crawl around a large field killing each other with insta-gib (or OHK, as it’s now called) wind/gravity affected bullets (not hitscan ofc). Delta Force/OFP. And, obviously, most modern games are nowhere close to either extreme.
