A little bug on slipgate (QW)

(Remyx99) #1

I played around in QW when we waited for other players to join the server and found this bug. Take a look…
Hope all simular bugs will be fixed.

Bug description would be nice :).

You can’t expect people to download and view every demo someone posts on the forums, the bug may already be known, or even fixed… which would make viewing the demo a waste of time

(Remyx99) #3

hmmm I believe a demo is more describing then some text, and the file is half a megabyte?

anyways. the natex tower or what it is named I tryed to climb it using the teleporter. a littlebit up you can walk just strait truh the wall. then you fall down inside the tower and then on and on all down to under the map were you can walk around freely.

Watch the demo, much better then my description.

Basically, through the slipgate, you can climb the Strogg spire using an icarus/teleporter and drop down the middle of it where it was not playerclipped properly.

You are then floating in the void under the floor, where you are free to spam at people above you and they can’t see you or fire back.

Very similar to the Sewers Icarus exploit back in the first beta.

(Snoofer) #5

fly up there with an icarus (1 -> 3)
use the teleporter to get on the platform (3 -> 4)
go through the wall (4 -> 5)
dont fall to death (5 -> 6)
DONT ABUSE (7, 8), this is for bugfixing only

NEVER USE ONLINE

NEVER TELL ANYONE OUTSIDE THIS FORUM
i want to enjoy slipgate till the next update

(kamikazee) #6

I think the bug should be posted on the CS forums as well… After all, SD is more regularly looking for bug reports over there.

(Remyx99) #7

if you mean the community site I have posted there --> http://community.enemyterritory.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14729

needs a bump doh.’

(Snoofer) #8

i have send a pm to both lead level designers and got a confirmation of SD that they have seen this post here

so: just wait and be happy you found this bug and helped fixing it

(Remyx99) #9

ahhh nice

they should reply the post, and confirm that they has read it doh’.

and does it come in the 1.2 patch?

(obsidian) #10

I’m guessing it should be in the 1.2 patch. It shouldn’t take very long to fix something like this in the editor. They may be going through the other maps to check for similar errors, though.

(Remyx99) #11

my post over at the community site was replyed.

how nice to see that the bug was fixed.

(Snoofer) #12

fixed means updated map means patch

or am i wrong?

btw.: next time youll find a serios bug got to #splashdamage on quakenet (irc), thats what ive done on sunday, and 1 min later i got a confimation from a dev that SD is looking into this

Good Game … ähh Job

(Remyx99) #13

yeah I will and thanks for you giving a note to the dev’s.

(Nail) #14

are there any other games that the devs personally acknowledge peoples questions or are SD the gods of the interwebs ?

I only play 3 online games so I really don’t have a clue

(Remyx99) #15

yes, most studios does.

or if they don’t they should.

I if found a bug posted it and it was never replyed on, how can you know that they noticed the bug?

only by reading all patch notes.

(amazinglarry) #16

In my experience most game developers don’t respond personally to questions or bug submissions. Splash Damage is the most active developer in a community that I’ve seen outside of MMO’s.

I think it’s good practice in general to not expect an answer from devs on every single question. Just presume that if you’re on the dev’s forums, they read it, and take action accordingly.
