Those improvements are really necessary and they need to be rolled out rather quickly. Full defences are really a BIG issue and it also makes the matches take very long time.
This is a big issue for LAN organizers since the duration of a match is unpredictable. Partial objective completion should be shown in the final score screen (hack percentage, how far is the bot escorted) to be able to determine the winner better in case teams have the same amount of fully completed stages. I believe there still are full defences with spawntime changes.
also: make the crosshair visible with hidden weapon model while iron sighting or remove the spread penalty. Iron sight with visual obstacles doesn’t bring anything good to a pro game like this.
Too late, just like in ETQW you guys are too late again.
And to the people thinking it’s not too late, take ETQW as example
ETQW > Brink, even in competition with these added functions in the OP
But these changes are far not enough, just release a damn SDK and let the real modders, and competition players work on it. Because you guys never have made a good out of the box competition game ( ET,ETQW ) both needed a competition mod to be good in that area. Where is the SDK???
And about rahdo who came to crossfire.nu, we gave him and the whole community loads of suggestions for comp. But i don’t see ANYTHING from it back in this game. Why do we even try to give feedback? It’s useless.
And don’t let me get started about the latest patch, nerfing weapons. First get the game bug free, and good. Before you start nerfing things. The weapons should have been improved, the best weapon the carb-9 is now gone. Every competition player was hating you guys for that, again you didn’t listen to any feedback.
Just look the features of WOLFPRO and ETQWPRO…
We’ve been looking into a few improvements and additions for Brink competitive play based on the feedback we’ve been seeing from you guys, as well as GreasedScotsman and the gang over at Brink TV. Among other things, this should alleviate some of the full hold issues and make the game a bit easier to follow for spectators.
Here are some of the things we’ve got in the works:
Stopwatch Spawn Times: We’re increasing the defenders’ spawn times in Stopwatch mode by 10 seconds across the board.
Steam IDs: We’re adding a new cvar listing the Steam IDs of all currently connected clients so you can verify their identities.
New Spectator HUD: The new HUD will show the status and progress of the current core objective, making it easier for spectators to see what’s going on.
Team Colors: Rather than having all the names be white in spectator mode, they’ll be colored by team (think red vs blue)
More Balancing: We are looking into a few other aspects of balancing, including specific spawn timers as well as weapon adjustments.
We’re planning to roll this stuff out as soon as everything is implemented and tested. Because it’s still a work-in-progress, there’s no specific date just yet, but we wanted to let you know that these bits are on the way.
so instead of picking out all the REALLY IMPORTANT things that need fixing you just randomly pulled these changes out of a hat first?
honestly what are you guys at splashdamage thinking?
Don’t know what the spectate screen looks like but don’t use colour alone to signify something. Not good for colour blind folks.
Put the teams under the team name headings (and use colour in addition).
Seems like some people think this is some kind of stuff they have to deal with in their lives. Sorry, but it’s still a game, not your personal army. The BS written here is the exact reason why developers are unwilling to give updates, since there is always the useless bashing by people impossible to please.
Thanks for the update on what you are up to, badman, nice to see things getting done. But as some members already said, there are little things that are needed as well, like pause function, replays and first person spec.
Please stop the whining about the spread already. While I can understand that competetive gaming and random spread can’t go together 100%, I still think that the current gameplay is what makes Brink what it is. If you would completely remove the spread you could as well play CS. Have fun being spawn camped.
EDIT: Oh, and please remove the overlong spawn protection, turrets should be enough. I don’t want defenders to be invincible until they arrived at the objective.
So your aloud to voice your opinion about the game but im not? Its a valid concern, just because you dont think it is, doesnt mean im wrong, what has given you this dillusion of grandeur in which you think you can dictate what people can and cant say on these forums?
On a thread about improving comp gameplay, i write a valid suggestion, on topic, which would improve comp gameplay and i get shot down by a guy who is just saying “thanks”.(although obiously i have no place to question someone from Monocle gaming with such vast competitive experience)
Please allow me to contribute to a discussion about whatever i like in future, even if you have much more important things to say like “thank you”, “much apreciated”, “great!” or other things of importance.
Lol! Are you serious?!
People is asking always (since release) the same 3/4 things that are a must fix and caused 90% of players leaving the game.

Either the guy is a troll or he’s a handicap. He probably plays bots all day and happy in his own bubble. He voiced his opinion, and I respect it.
But… goes like light years distance from any truth and fiction. Game is horrible, even if they think they are right with there motives, like I mentioned,. why not put in some features that are dynamic or changable. Sure and SDK is sometimes ok later, but we need to be able to change the game because the dictatorship style game release here is an insult to anyone that is a good gamer. PERIOD
Who cares about “potential” :s
I’d rather play a working finished game then a game that has the potential to be working and finished
so instead of picking out all the REALLY IMPORTANT things that need fixing you just randomly pulled these changes out of a hat first?
Stopwatch Spawn Times is the really important thing that needs fixed. Perhaps there are others, but nothing more important than that.
One small note about the spread in this game.
I have a feeling they made the spread so big because the hitboxes are ***** with SMART and all, and therefor they made the spread so big and random so that you’d hit the enemy player no matter how ***ed up the hitbox is.
Just my thoughts on why they made such random spread.

You sir… deserve a medal. Because you are probably 120% correct.
At the same time… it’s like finding out that you work for an evil organization and that your whole life is meaningless and you are just a cog that is easily replaceable by some other random dumbass… oh ****… I think the adjustment beaureau is after me now for resetting me… help!!!

Nice theory, and it could be another aspect behind the spread.
Personally I just think they didnt want bad players to feel out of their depth, and they wanted all the carebear daddy gamer stuff to have more of an influence.
I’m pretty sure, he’s commenting on the other stuff

Aren’t there any cmds to see hitboxes?
after the **** they sold me, do I have to ask please when i ask something?
Do i have to censure my disappointment? This forum is the only way to press unprofessional devs.
when they will give me back my 30 euros i’ll say please when i ask something in this forum.
