A distro version that doesn't crash with ETQW?

Hey,

As some of you might aware, ETQW has crash issues on Linux for a long time. When the player waits in online server list for a long time and/or tries to connect to another server after a long game, the game freezes/hangs/crashes/segfaults. That seems to be a libgcc issue which is also related with missing last letter issue caused by libc. Considering that libc related missing letter problem appeared in January 2012, I am trying to pinpoint a Linux distro version which doesn’t have libgcc related crash problem with the game.

As I tried; Ubuntu 10.04 (non-updated), Ubuntu 10.04.4 (non-updated), Ubuntu 10.04.4 (updated), Ubuntu 11.10 (non-updated), Ubuntu 11.10 (updated) do crash the game. Can please someone direct me to an old distro version which doesn’t have crash problem with the game? Any distro is accepted.

Is it any glibc 2.14.1-4 or below? I’ve always ran Redhat based distros for Desktop and I think Fedora 12 was the last one I used that didn’t have the missing letters.

No, no; glibc issue results the missing text character. Any release of Ubuntu below 12.04 doesn’t have missing character issue. But, crashes are likely to be caused by libgcc. As I have just tried Ubuntu 9.04, it still crashes. For the love of Earth, hasn’t there been a crash-free distro release for ETQW?

Meh, not even Ubuntu 9.04 and Ubuntu 8.04 are crash free… What the frak?! I tried installing Arch 2011.08.19 but non-graphical installation isn’t my cup of tea… Will try Fedora 12 soon.
