A demo for brink ?

(dandragon) #1

I’m new to posting here but I’ve followed this site for a while. Thanks for reading.

Now that we have a release date that puts us 1 week closer to BRINK I can’t help but wonder if and when we can get a demo to download. That would be a real cause for dance, if you are talented enough to dance and shoot well at the same time.

YES CAUSE THE EARLY RELEASE DOES NOT MEAN WE WILL GIVE YOU A BREAK TILL WE CAN PUT OUR HAND ON THE GAME 0

… seriously ?

Hi there, and welcome. There are numerous threads concerning demo speculation, and it has been officially confirmed there will not be a demo.

(trigg3r) #4

no it hasn’t.
It’s been confirmed that there will not be a beta, they never said anithing about a demo.

On the official twitter of BRINK there was a tweet that there won’t be a demo. So it is confirmed.

(dandragon) #6

well thats just sad was hoping for one. Would have been a good way to pass the time and be even more psyched. But at least were getting more peeks every day.

(Jess Alon) #7

How about you pretend there would have been a demo but they are releasing a week early instead?

(dandragon) #8

Yes very grateful for the early date its not often that you get an early release on anything let alone something that looks this good.

(ShoryukenII) #9

A lot of people are skeptical about this and need a demo. I’d actually rather have a demo because this is so close to Portal 2 now. I’ve been following this for more than a year and Valve has bad history with PS3 (worse than SD). So there’s no question for me: Brink comes first. Now reward my loyalty with a demo! =D

its a waste of development time to build a demo, what they need to do is just focus on the game, you can see reviews, watch people playing on youtube and form your ideas from that

int he time it takes to make a demo, they could improve netcode , or fix bugs

(Avoc) #11

I dont know what the hell they are thinking by not releasing a demo for a multiplayer focused game.

That is a very bad excuse. They basically HAVE the demoes (which they used for various game shows such as E3) and could simply use those, of course with a few updates that have been made in the meantime.

Edit: You too.

With broadband and streaming HD we don’t really need 5.25" floppy disks with the shareware levels on them anymore. I’m always pleased to read people writing “I’ve been here a long time, have been reading a lot, have been following Brink for a long time” and then ask a question that’s posted once a week. I mean if this is what the average person can handle my perspective of time and thoroughness has to have some market value, right?

(LyndonL) #14

I think we should have a beta.

(trigg3r) #15

i think splash damage should add a team deathmatch mode

Except they have now ‘finished’ the game, earlier than planned might I add, hence the revised release date.

I’ve pre-ordered simply because I found the game at cheap price but for others out there, I can fully understand why they would want to see a demo before making a purchase.

Game demos have been around for ages now, why are people belittling those who want to see a demo for this particular game? I don’t get it…

I agree that we don’t need a thread every week about this though

What makes you believe that I feel entitled to have a demo? I’m saying that its extremely stupid of them NOT to release a demo, as it provides and generates free marketing by spreading via word of mouth.

Of course, this only happens if the game is actually good, which I personally have no reason to doubt, yet other people who have never heard of the game, or who have only seen a few gameplay videos and are not yet convinced, would rather wait for the price to drop, and that is generally not good for SD or Bethesda, less so for SD since they only have one game release while Bethesda has several.

(JeP) #18

I think they would have told more about Brinking being Gold than the release being moved one week earlier if that were precisely the case

(.Chris.) #19

Hence the inverted commas.

(JeP) #20

That’s what I expected, hence the “precisely” and the unsure smiley
