A challenge while we wait for ET full....

(BoltyBoy) #1

So I was wondering if it’s possible to run across the telegraph cables that leave the Axis base towards the tunnel. So if you fancy a mini challenge while we wait, see if you can get across the cables to the tunnel entrance without dropping off - not as easy as you’d think.

I’ve not achieved it yet, the very last pole requires a skillful manoeuver.

I’ve been trying this for weeks, and while it seems like it could be possible, it would take a miracle to actually accomplish it. I can make it about halfway across before falling off (or being shot off.)

Still, if I could master that, there would be no limit to my killing power.

UNWITTING ALLIES: Don’t worry friends, we’ll just come along this corner since I see no enemies coming this way. We’ve got plenty of cover due to this big rocks. Nothing can harm us now.

SUBSTANDARD “AWESOME” JONES: Ha ha! Death from above, ye scurvy dogs!

UNWITTING ALLIES: EEGAD! AN AXIS PIRATE OF SOME KIND THAT APPEARS AS IF FROM NOWHERE! HOW WILL WE EVER SURVIVE?

SUBSTANDARD “THE BEST” JONES: Ye’ll not! DIE!

UNWITTING ALLIES: We surrender forever against the might of SubstandardJones.

Yeah, it would be pretty sweet.

Oh I never thought out the dramatic consequences that this mini-competition could hold, as you demonstrate.

People will no doubt start crying foul as enemy players seemingly drop at them from the sky! They will perhaps wonder if the opposition has found some secret hidden power up giving these awesome powers to rain down on them from above. I can see the fear in the whites of their eyes already. Perhaps it would be wise not to unleash such an awesome power on these simple gamers - they may end up in shock requiring hospitalisation.

On a side note…Unless the nasty mapper has put some invisible blocker on the last telegraph pole I am sure it is possible to get to the end.

Ah, I new it couldn’t only be me that’s tried this manouver. That last telegraph pole has so far been the stumbling block for me to. :banghead:
I think some strange newtonian calculation is required to transform the graceless slide, jump, and knee shattering crunch into a more balletic piece resulting in ledge (and possibly world) domination.

I will keep on trying…

…unless the panzer gets me first

Damn so close just now. I find that tactic works best as follows…

1 - Walk on to cable start. Use left and right keys only to stay on cable.
2 -You should just reach the second pole at a slow speed to just gracefully slip over it.
3 - Use technique for part 1 for second section but upon approaching the second pole use the backwards key to reduce your speed so that you arrive at this pole slowly so as not to shoot off the end
4 - use technique 1 to reach the ledge.

I’ve not quite pulled it off yet. Got on to the last stretch, but in my excitment I over compensated on the cable and plummeted undrammatically to the floor.

did some experiments…

try going to that ledge in the spectator mode, you can’t get to it
there is an invisible “Wall” just in front of it

so basically even if you manage to travel the whole length of the wire you wont’ be able to jump onto that ledge…

it would be really cool if you could though

And I thought I was the only crazy one trying that

If you guys have tried that one, I am sure you have also tried to get on the ledge over the tunnel doorway that leads out into the yard in front of the base. Can you imagine the damage you could rain down from that range ? There is an invisible wall which cuts off access to that ledge and, as the earlier post mentioned, the same wall will exist over the large tunnel doorway. You could still teeter on the wire tho … hehe

Yep, tried that one a few times as well. Sadly it was all in vain - thanks for pointing that out, I’ll go back to shooting those nasty axis/allied (delete as applicable) folk.

Made the wire walk, well most of it anyway.
There is however a great little hiding place in the shed, within the Axis Compound, you know where Allied Medics Hide out in great Numbers to support Engineers at the West Gate. Try getting on to the Beams in the shed roof. From here you can unleash the full potential of your MP40, as groups of Allies replenish, in the “safety” of the Shed. Confused Allies wondering where its all comming from usually assume “Covert Ops” and shoot the hell out of eachother in the fire fight.

Requires a tricky lil jump/crouch from the boxes.

(BoltyBoy) #11

Pah! That’s just plain rude! Oi mapper get rid of the wall so us wire walkers have a reward for our balancing prowess!

(kUUh) #12

try the line from first axis spawn to first allied spawn, it got a reward too cuz you can jump from the last pole to the roof to do some serious spawn raping :stuck_out_tongue:
