6800gt poor fps only in ET any ideas?

Hope you guys can help I’ve just upgraded from a 9700pro to a 6800gt

I’m using 61.77 drivers and have fully removed the old ATI drivers b4 installing the new card.

I’ve just had ago on ET and my FPS are slower with this new card by a long way “was running at a nice 120fps im most areas” so I decided to run timedemo 1 and got

64.1 @ 1280x1024
64 @ 1024x768
64.4 @ 1600x1200

which is pretty strange and slow tbh and it goes even slower is I put a default config in about 32fps in 1280x1024 lol

but doom3/COD runs like a dream and my 3dmark2003 score is 11373 so my pc seams to be set up ok…plz help :???:

Did you use driver cleaner or something like that?

You shoud be getting the same fps as with your radeon, no matter what resolution/aa/af you throw at it, cause this game is very cpu limited

I’ve reinstalled windows and have done a few more tests running 61.72 driver “with no tweaks to then in display properties�.

Totally max out from menus “everything on i.e. multi pass lighting etc�

83.2 @1024x768

small tweaks in menus “ fast sky, no particles but all still on high detail�

92.2 @1024x768

so it does look like something was left over from my ati card :angry:

yep like Sick Boy said it will be my cpu that will be the limiting factor now :smiley: … but im ok with the new set of benchmarks :clap:

Anyway, it sounds a bit strange still. My system specs are as follows: XP2400+@2.4, 512Mb Twinmos RAM, ABIT NF7-S 2.0, Radeon9800PRO

With these specs, using the timedemo Sauron|EFG provided a link to in the “Whats everyones fps…part 2”-thread, I score a total of 111-112 points (107-108 with the latest Omegas). With the fact that Nvidia’s GL drivers are far superior to ATI’s I would expect more from your card.

Timedemo is run with a 1280x1024 res.

EDIT: ehhhhhh…/me feels like an idiot for not thinking of configs. If I am in the mood later on today I will do some testing with a fresh install.

i can run the game in medum detail at any resolution with antialiasing / anisotropic filtering off and the performance set to high performance and get exaclty the same fps when i set it to high detail in the game with Antialiasing on 4 and anisotropic filtering on 4 with the performance set to quality… I only start to loosing fps when i set my card to… say 8xs antialiasing etc

tryed vysnc on and off and have double checked all my setting in bois ect and there fine plus all my other games run fine.

ps ive running the same timedemo from that topic

ET is heavily CPU bound.
