I installed it yesterday, and i have no problem (Running in a MSI 5900FX)
Gave 3000+ points in Aquamark3 and 400+ in 3Dmark 2003.

ET is running perfectly with this driver.

it made my box nose dive too (running a gf 3 ti 500).

it’s the same issue for me, about 10 seconds into a game (on a PB server) it locks and freezes.

I took the drivers out, put the 45.23’s back in, and I’m chillin at the Holidae Inn once again.

Really, they shouldn’t do much to an old card like yours. They usually
only optimze newer cards, like the FX series.
I have a GF4, and haven’t seen any worthwhile increases with my
card in a long time with new drivers. Maybe a bit more stable
when a new game requires an update of GC drivers to run
properly!

And the funny thing is, they’re not called Detonator anymore. They’re Forceware…dun, dun, dun.

i’ve read in another forum which looks like the right answer is that 90% of the time if you have an FX range gfx card your fine if your running anything below that like gf4 - gf2 your machine will freeze after couple of seconds entering a punk buster enabled server

ghey but oh well ;(

Got the same problem with my GF4Ti4600 :frowning:

Keeps freezing after a couple secs. I wonder if nVIDIA is planning to do anything about it.

Edit: Ohhh, I just read that it’s a pb issue… :suspicious:

No problem here (so far) with the new ForceWare drivers, I have tested
ET & vanilla wolf (and others)…

Asus 7700 (GF2 Ultra 64Mb) Vid card
AMD XP2500+ barton (clocked to 2Ghz)
Asus A7V8X-X mobo (1006 bios)
VIA-Hyperion 4in1 drivers version 449
1Gb 266DDR Crucial Ram
Win2K SP4
DirectX9.0b

I presume all you chaps with problems are reporting them to Nvidia,
and / or Evenbalance (depending on weather you think its PB related) ?
Tell them the specifics of your system, as I have above, along with
details for the issues you are experiancing, and hopefully
they will get the hint that there are lots of consumers having trouble,
and resolve this for you.

Well, that’s a way to deal with it… for those who got the cash for an upgrade :frowning:

(ExP|Maximus191) #13

Try the /pb_system 1 command when E.t first loads (not on a server)
This fixes this issue in Rtcw (not sure if it’s the same for E.t though).

(dommafia) #14

can i have a link to this? i want my old driver.

(Bokkem) #15

Yes, this is known issue with the Forceware 52.16 and PB. I’ve had the problem with both my old G4ti4600 and my brand new FX5900.

Just got word that 52.70 is available at the MSI update site. I’m curious if the problem got solved…

dunno about 41.09 for win98…

(dommafia) #17

thx mate, now i have one more question… how do i uninstall the DETONATOR version i had before? I went to control panel > add/remove programs and i didnt see anything with DETONATOR in it.

(im a video card installer/uninstaller n00b)

(ETfonhome) #18

control panel—>

add/remove---->

“Nvidia display drivers”

(dommafia) #19

ah, i thought that was separate from the DETONATOR drivers… since DETONATOR versions are like 40 and up and when i go to show the version of the NVIDIA DISPLAY drivers it says 5.something.something

thx again mate
