3rd person game like in the trailer (please read)

i kind of wish the game could have been made in third person like in the cinematic trailer so u can actually see what cool stunts u are doing instead of the screen just moving and so u can actually see the outfit u created for your character so basically the character customization is pointless if u are not playing online.i don’t understand why they would make this a first person shooter it just seems dumb.

good point.

both could be equally immersive i reckon, fps you see others do those tricks or customizations.
tps you can see your own.

mmm. i dunno

Well, maybe there is a thirdperson option/cvar or whatever.
TP sucks in a shooter imho, but why not.
If this game was in third person exclusively I would not be
interested at all, let alone buy it.

depend players needs.
its actually more dumb to acuse devlopers in making something “dumb”, just because they pick genre/L&F for they creations.
poor developers, how dare they to unfit siepha expectations ??!
i don’t know.
and don’t care.
peace, coffee, ETQW.

You can probably switch to 3rd person in your demos, if you feel the need to just watch them in that angle or want it that way for a video your making.

Cheatlocked in MP lol.
Not that any player would need that anyway. Fetishists are another story.

(DarkangelUK) #8

Do it MW2 style where there’s a specific 3rd person mode game mode

(AnthonyDa) #9

You can’t be serious and allow peps to chose between 1st person & 3rd person view in the same server/party because you can see player at wall angle who can’t see you in 3rd person, unlike 1st person.

FPS is better than TPS. Thats why its an FPS.

I sort of agree with the whole Third Person choice. Honestly, it would allow the characters to perform more acrobatic/stunning maneuvers such as shown in the recent cinematic trailer. They obviously can’t do a whole lot of what they did in the trailer due to the fact that it IS a first person game and I’m sure Splash Damage doesn’t want to dis-orient their players right out of the gate…

But honestly, that’s why I’m excited for Brink. It’s unlike any other First Person shooter out there. I’ve seen TPS that are starting to get those free-running mechanics (Uncharted 2, S4 League, Wet) and while that’s all fine and dandy, they’re pretty much the norm now. Brink is essentially trying to mix things up in the FPS genre and re-define the way we think about shooters as a whole, which is why I’m glad the developers stuck with their guns and kept it from the First Person Perspective.

SMART was meant to provide the player move freedom of movement, not to show off stunts, in that way adding a third person view just for that is missing the point of the game completely.

(H0RSE) #13

I already suggested a third person view, and unlike in this thread, where people seem to like the idea, my suggestion was looked at like I was an idiot… it starts at #624

Tokamak is dead on IMO this game is a Shooter first Parkour second. You also have to remember there are three body types and TPS would be really boring for Heavy players since their movement is much less than Medium and Small body types.

And about not being able to see your character and it being “dumb” and pointless, I believe that you are not only customizing your character for yourself but mostly for the other people you’re fighting against. I know this next part might sound silly. but Samurai didn’t put on their flashy armor so they could stare at themselves in a pool of water. They did it to scare their enemies, to look like demons, and to make them recognize the Samurai.

And I feel that Brink is similar, your customization is more for your enemies than you. I mean if it was TPS all you’d see is your backside anyway. And let’s be honest…In a fast paced shooter like Brink do you really want to take a moment to stare at yourself like a narcissist and end up being slain by an Operative who then steals your identity because you wanted to see how pretty your backside looked today?

And also remember to add TPS everyone would have to be TPS because of how much larger your FOV becomes…And generally the way Brink is designed it doesn’t seem to be all about game modes like MW2 so adding a TPS only game mode seemd impractical for SD to spend time and money on…

(siepha) #15

how about they give the option to change views in single player mode but only one view for online modes bcuz i can see how having the option in multiplayer would be unfair…

(tokamak) #16

If cheats are allowed then

Should work.

(BeyondSpectrality) #17

If it was only available in Private Mode I wouldn’t mind at all. I wouldn’t really care if my friends decided to go TPS while we were all on the same team ^^;

I personally wouldn’t use it though.

However, this would take away from the ideal that SD wants you to try Online Multiplayer and adding this feature would separate you from playing online even more…Mainly because you’d be used to playing one way and then not want to play online because of it.

(Senyin) #18

Third person view for singleplayer only ofcourse.
I don’t want it but I can imagine others might want it (especially consoleplayers?)
So I want them to have it! Because I am awesome in that way and
quite loving and giving towards my fellow gamers.
Personally I think a TPS is —>

Third person allows you to look around a corner, so definite no.

edit: and camera getting stuck in objects etc is extremely annoying.

(Szakalot) #20

What he and Light said.

definite no, please keep it a shooter!
