3rd August Dev Stream Round-Up

(Faraleth) #1

News:

  • New merc role-call video coming “soon”. (The video was ‘finished’ today 3rd August)
  • New merc coming in “this update” as phrased on stream. This likely means the update this week.
  • Next confirmed NOT to be Aimee, but could be any other merc.
  • Question: “Is the next merc to be released, in the E3 trailer?” – On stream answer “The only merc in the E3 trailer that is not released yet, is Turtle… I believe.” (possible hint to it being Phoenix as the next merc – possibly a slip up reveal? However, it may just be bad memory)
  • Question: “Will we be able to trade cards?” – Yes, this will DEFINITELY be coming, however it will be quite a fair while in the future. They also plan to add Steam Community Market integration for trading.
  • There will be more double credits/exp weekends “soon”.

Possible changes/updates:

  • The player report feature will be updated and implemented as soon as possible. This will make player reporting much easier than at present time.
  • Audio bugs/glitches such the looping Rhino mini-gun sound will be fixed as soon as possible – possibly even the update after this week.
  • Question: “Will Arty be buffed?” – Nothing was confirmed, but Shoe (the host) said “Arty will be OK” and hinted towards a possible buff, however, he said he couldn’t reveal anything on the matter.
  • Question: “Will Phantom be buffed for competitive?” – No. Phantom will not be receiving any buffs.
  • Question: “Will anything be done to improve the anti-cheat?” – Yes, they are currently “looking into” updates or improvements to the anti-cheat, or possibly a new system entirely.

Thanks for this.

This post gives better information on where they are at with anticheat than what they are saying on stream.

Thanks for this @harlot and @heavyEngagement I wasn’t able to watch the stream.

For those that don’t tend to open links.

But, more seriously, there isn’t a magic silver-bullet against hacking, it won’t be entirely eradicated overnight one day. Even the powerhouse of Valve with it’s highly praised VAC has issues in CS:GO as many people have mentioned.

We’ve had a different anti-cheat solution integrated internally for some weeks now and we’re on a testing and bug-fixing phase. We’d love to have been able to release by now but while there are still issues it would do much more harm (client / server timeouts, instability, false positives etc.) than good. We’re making progress alongside the developers of the anti-cheat on a daily basis and it’s getting closer. However at this point it would be incredibly foolish of me to even give an estimated ETA as these things are very prone to having to go through several cycles of bug-fixing and iteration.

Even when this finally comes online, it won’t detect or solve everything and hackers will immediately begin their efforts to work around it. That’s why we also have devs working on Player Reporting right now, integrating it with the Fireline backend and Nexon Customer Services so it’s just a case of clicking a players name in the scoreboard and reporting them. This along with the other things I mentioned should help significantly.

In the end all we can do is prioritise combatting cheating as high as we can and have the relevant people set aside to work on it to make things better as quickly as possible. We’re doing our best, things just take time.

It’s nice that Smooth explained how things work and what is being done and where they are at.

(Faraleth) #7

Indeed! It’s nice to see some transparency from a dev. I have to admit, I find it a little annoying when they keep things hidden for marketing purposes :frowning:

Totally agree. It is really nice to know that the devs are aware of the issues in their own game and that they are dealing with them accordingly. In other games, this is not the case more often than not.

I have to fight pretty hard to get information from Exedore and Smooth. I still lack faith in SD but occasionally they come through on the Subreddit with something good.

(XavienX) #11

Phantom doesn’t need buffs, I agree. But his cloak needs to be slightly less visible since now that noobs can even see him standing. It should be more visible than when he was released and less visible than he is right now. And also the meleeing still needs some slight tweaking, especially the lunge knifes on every melee.

(Harlot) #12

The problem with that thought is what does it actually accomplish? Phantom wasn’t viable in competitive/league play with how blatantly broken he was upon release. Making his stealth better only increases his power in pub stomping, as he still won’t see competitive level play.

This is why stealth/pub stompers are better left out of a competitive shooter. They tend to have to be kept weak as they ruin casual matches.

(Faraleth) #13

Well, everyone need-not-worry, because it doesn’t look like he will be getting any more buffs, nerfs or reworks any time soon!

(CCP115) #14

Some disappointing info, some interesting info.

I thought [SD] shoe didn’t think Arty needed a buff, curious as to how that plays out.

“Even the powerhouse of Valve with it’s highly praised VAC has issues in CS:GO as many people have mentioned.”

What a hilarious joke. The VAC part, not Valve powerhouse part.

Won’t lie out of all the possible mercs to be released, I really, really hope it isn’t phoenix :frowning: Unless he got some big changes he just feels so…so…gimmicky…and not in a good way. granted, strictly my opinion. Just not looking forward to him.

(BushDweller) #16

Very helpful

Thanks for sharing

You should do this for every stream :stuck_out_tongue:

(Parmenion) #17

I hope it’s not phoenix too, i’m really bored of all these mercs with smg and same gameplay, phoenix is just a sawbonez with an area heal and a useless auto res.

RedEye brings new weapon and new ability, same for Thunder or Stoker, i hope after phoenix there are no more smg mercs. ( i pray every night for turtle has a rifle)

Someone doesn’t understand sarcasm…

(Faraleth) #19

@BushDweller Glad you found it helpful! I will certainly be doing this for all future streams I can! The next one is on Wednesday

@titaniumCrouton Yeah, I have to agree I don’t really want it to be Phoenix to be honest :frowning: Not unless he has some serious changes from beta. He is just a more mobile Aura with worse stats than Sawbonez and really doesn’t have much of a place among the other medics already. But, we’ll see how he plays out when he’s released  I’ve honestly got my fingers crossed for Turtle! x3

Nice, they are at 4am, so I usually miss them. Thanks a lot.
