Phoenix is just combat medic. I mean from annoying for enemies part.

Red Eye brings lovely semi-auto M4-10 BR. It brings me tears of nostalgia when i kill with

that gun as Red Eye on CBT.

I would even prefer anything but not Phoenix.

Thunders promo art shows him with a Kek-10, doesn’t have to mean a thing tho since weapon shifts have happend before.

Turtle seems to be the heavy of the engineers and very defensive minded could mean shotguns aswell. Tho what I personaly would love to see on him is LMGs, I know not very likely since they are very powerful and more of an assault thing. But considering that any other Engineer gets strong damaging abilites. Giving him more firepower could be justified. It would also mean that together with his barrier he’d create temporary MG nests.

Personaly I’d love to see Thunder next (his lmg seems beast and I love conc nades).

But would argue that Redeye is propably the better community apeasing option (after all alot of people are waiting for him since day one).
Phoenix while interesting is indeed kinda meeh. But imo has the least potential to cause another shitstorm because of balancing issues (his abilities don’t kill. And his selfrevive propably gets shut down by finishing 9 out of 10 anyways).

Would be pretty reasonable if we got both Phoenix and Turtle this week.

If I remember correctly Phoenix had an AK47 in the E3 Trailer. Turtle had a Blishlok. Really hoping for M4 Turtle AND Phoenix to round out my M4 crew with Fragger and Skyhammer

@titaniumCrouton Well if we look at the release history of the Merc role-call videos, most fall on (or around) a Tuesday, which would be today. And my guess for the normal time released is about 18:00 - 20:00 UTC. However, at the time of writing this reply it is 19:37 UTC, so I may be wrong… unless it’s not today after all! It may in fact be tomorrow, WITH the update… who knows :stuck_out_tongue:

I watched the stream, it was not sarcasm, I can safely say that. It just sounded like shoe’s opinion, so maybe everyone else on the SD team knew Arty buffs were needed.

And I understand why you all don’t want Phoenix, cos of how boring he is.

But Redeye is Australian. Ewwww. Phoenix, on the other hand, is Spanish. Now that’s cool.

In all seriousness, I want Phoenix because the closest med to my playstyle is Sawbonez, who even then, I have doubts about. Phoenix looks spot on.
Redeye looks kinda gimmicky, and actually kind of overpowered from what little info I have seen. Phoenix looks like he’ll be underpowered, balanced at best.

@extravagentBypass Honestly, I have to agree with the fact, I don’t understand why people don’t want Phoenix… I guess some are in the same boat as me - the fact that we’d prefer other mercs before him (like Turtle, Red-Eye or Stoker!) :stuck_out_tongue:

I wouldn’t say Red-Eye is essentially over-powered as he doesn’t really have any “power” skills over anyone else. Simply his ability to pick out targets easier. But, it’s hard to really debate without actually seeing how he plays after he’s been modified since removal :slight_smile: Only time will tell…

People are not expecting Phoenix mostly because all the other remaining mercs to be released have strong game impacting abilities he does not have. Phoenix is just in the middle of everything. He’s in the middle between Aura and Sawbonez in his abilities, he’s in the middle between light and medium mercs in the way he feels.
He’s still a safe bet if they don’t want big drama for a couple of weeks :p…

People would cry about his self revive even though all you’d have to do is finish him off so he can’t do it (always smart to finish off medics anyway) and said self revive has a cooldown after being used.

@Faraleth I think, in a nut shell, it’s because he isn’t bring any new strategical change to the game with his abilities. We have 3 medics and they each have a special ability that makes them affect just how you would take on completing your objective. However, Phoenix’s special, which is of course his self revive and mobile health station, doesn’t provide any more strategical difference then if you used sawbones or aura(more like a mix of them two anyway).

I personally don’t want him because what does he do that changes gameplay?

Nothing really, I mean like sure he revives himself, but we’ve seen revives before.

Adding someone with smoke/fire/concussion/shield walls would add a new tactical element to the game making it more interesting :slight_smile:

I’m pretty agreed with everyone - he seems OK, but he doesn’t do much to mix up the game. Like @BushDweller said, adding smoke/fire/concussion/shield walls would be a LOT more fun and will mix up the ‘meta’ a little, no doubt.
