3 mercs aren't enought for the Squad!

Let’s see:

1 Engineer is a mandatory choice cuz all maps have repair\bomb objectives
1 Fire support with airstroke for EVs and for ammo ofc
1 Medic (I see many 8v8 servers without a single medic in the team a lot)
1 Sniper to deny pushing you back to spawn and clearing groups of hard-campers
1 Assault class just to shoot people for fun when your team is fineely complected and you can relax and have fun

and now we have to fit all these into 3 squad slots… that’s why teams barely ever have medics, or snipers… or even engineers… to do the job done

WHY?!

Ofc you can force your own strict rules to RANKED games etc, but let people HAVE FUN in public servers, I mean they could just join it, see that they miss a merc of a class, then rejoin the server with it, no problems, except losing exp (for those who care) and some time clicking around, and ofc most ppl won’t do it - that’s how we have teams without medics, engineers, and other important classes

If the team is on a skype or smth - ofc they agree upon taking roles before the match, else it’s just a random mix-up, but WHY?

Make Dirty Bomb great fun again!

No…teams never have those because you’re playing with pubs who often just want to kill and don’t care about objectives and such :stuck_out_tongue:

You want a group of people with organization and planning then join a clan and play with them.

So basically, you make a bunch of threads about the game, people don’t like it, then you disagree with every post made in that thread that doesn’t say “wow, that’s totally awesome and no one has ever thought about that before”.

First time seeing such toxic community, whenever you write something people don’t agree about - they instantly boil up to 100° and write hatefull salty comments even not worrying about bringing up any arguments against, just calling other “stupid”, then even brag about me pressing “disagree” button on things I disagree about despite them doing it just before thinking it’s totally fine, ok. I’m already far B)

Trust me, I’m not bragging about you pressing the disagree button, bragging is the wrong word.

Maybe you should understand the game better before suggesting all these changes. Letting everyone have one merc of each role on their loadout just means no one has to rely on anyone for anything. A C4 needs to be defused? Watch like 4 people switch to engineers to help defuse that bomb next spawn wave, just to leave you without the medic you use to have.

You should be relying on your team from the start. You are saying that you’ve seen servers of 8v8 with no one having a medic. I call BS on that, I’m sure someone has a medic in their loadout, they just aren’t playing them… and if that’s the case, then allowing people to have 1 merc for every roll wouldn’t remedy the issue anyway, as those same people would still just pick whatever merc they felt like playing.

Solution? communicate with your team and have someone switch to a medic.

I’d rather have someone who actually likes (and is good at) playing medic be the medic, rather than someone simply trying to fill that medic slot because no one else is playing them. You aren’t likely to be healed/revived in that situation either.

Don’t know what the highest is, but this still hasn’t even reached his own personal highest from other posts yet.

Now, maybe I shouldn’t have said that as it almost feels like I’m just picking on him at this point.

I’m not trying to pick on him though… but he opens topics suggesting changes to the way the game works then expects no criticism to what he’s said.

I guess I’ll bite on this with what is hopefully a more constructive reply:

If the ultimate goal of DB pubscrubbing and getting gud is to move towards a more pressure-driven environment, something I guess starting at Stopwatch, moving to Ranked then into tournament play, it makes sense that the player is exposed to these rules along the way. There’s a strong feeling in the community that we should have FF on some servers as it dramatically changes the gameplay in ranked/comp. I don’t think we should water down the pub experience any further.

Being made to choose what you want to take in your squad is an important element of the game in my view. You can pick a generalist squad if you want to try and pick up the team slack or you can choose mercs you love/do really well in and hope that you can carry them to victory, but having to decide on this means that you have to put some thought about how you approach a match. Sure, it kicks your ass if you’re stuck with no medic and a bunch of stubborn players, but you should consider that when you make your choices. If your team is too daft to bring any fire support mercs or are too stubborn to switch to them, something I’m sure we’ve all seen happen, your team probably deserves to lose.

Now, with that out of the way, let’s go play Dirty!

The only “must have” classes are medic and engineer really. I usually play whoever I want in the third slot.

I like small parties, they force people to be strategic.

Do you want to play against a team full of proxies? Because that’s how you end up with 16 proxies in a match.

Literally this. If people can switch in and out of any merc they want at any time, it drastically changes the meta of the game. Forcing people to choose three they want and play with them forces a little more variety into the game. Not every class is “necessary”. Good teamwork is. You can win with a full team of Vaseline’s if you want, you just need good teamwork and coordination.

Also, you should consider looking into the Mechanic Augment

i own the 1st Gen Kira which has the mechanic and Drilled, since then i never used Engie anymore because either their engagement range is too short (proxy), too slow and might get sniped (Bushwhacker), or too ez to play and i might not feel like playing (fletcher).

so i pick kira which has Burst rifle, Mechanic, drilled, good offensive/defensive ability and good speed plus a pair o’ nice teats middle ground between 80hp proxy and 100hp Fletcher

but mercs are mainly your playstyle
