Rather than try to police what people are doing, you should let them choose for themselves.

From what the devs had show us there is no general K/D, only kills and assists and so i see no reason why mercs should’ve it instead.

Stats are a very ambiguous thing. Only few people are able to link the correct data sets to gain true information.

What does KD say without time and score? 40/10 vs 4/1
What is a revive spree worth if you only feed kills to the enemy and longspawing your team?

This “kd promotes bad behaviour” is too short and dumb, but I havent heard a single argument for stats in a FPS that is in my opinion better.

To me, this is where game designers can try to bring up a proper scoring system but can never account for all cases…

In my 10years of online PC gaming, I have enjoyed the games without stats way more than those with. End game quitting, stacking, farming weakers, camping etc are way less common in these games.

K/D from all-time-played with a specific merc will give you huge amounts of information to work on. Those 40/10 and 4/1 examples are irrelevant when dozens of hours of playing a single merc are considered.

We had stats over 10 years ago, we had them in ET(pro), QW, we know SD is gathering stats in DB as well.

The reason for having stats is: I like looking at my stats. I like seeing which weapons/merc under/over perform, etc. I like checking my badges and seeing how many revive sprees/godlikes ive amassed. Which side arm am I more effective with? Do I get more kills with a stiletto or combat knife?

I really don’t get the ‘if you put in stats people will play for k/d only’ arguments. As if the people that didn’t care about objectives did so only cause of stats in game. Or the people that DO care will suddenly stop caring cause they will be able to see their stats.

And regardless, the argument can be turned on its head: you can track your stats of contributing to objectives as well, and W/L ratio is a great indicator of your ability to play in a team (in the end, it is winning that matters)
