Becoming a bummer of a multiplayer, and why do I get 150% and counting on dowloads???

Get onto a server with web-redirect, I get dl speeds of about 800Kb/s :stuck_out_tongue:

You only get this problem when your picking out servers at random,try and find some servers were you can become a reg and will play at everyime you connect to ET, then you know when you connect you will have all the files.

It does suck though when you are trying new servers out and find a load of downloads you after go through to get on.

Even more fun (or not…:P) is when you see someone downloading maps as spectator for quite a while, and just as he has finished downloading and finally enters the game he’s kicked by punkbuster :banana:

seriously though, the server says its running a map like oasis, and you have to download shitchefbeta7.pk3 before you can join, or you dowlnload doesn’t stop, I have had 200% of the file downloaded???

there must be away for people to know what maps are running before trying to connect, this is a serious flaw in the design of the muliplayer>

Easy way to find out is to turn off auto-downloads in your client and then connect to a server. If you don’t have some file that the server requires you just get dropped back to the main menu so you can try somewhere else.

Or you can just play on non-pure servers. Then you don’t need to be in perfect sync with the server to play.

For the most part, this is a problem with the way admins set up their servers and not something wrong with the game design. So you’re probably better off whining at specific server admins and not at the game designers. Naturally, its a safe bet you won’t make too much traction either way. =)
