2 soldier changes

a: increase the delay between when you press fire on the panzer and when it actually shoots (40-80% more), so people don’t jump into a room full of people and kill them all instantly. also panzers can then be countered then by just killing the shooter, which will become harder once the soldier reaches level3.

b: do something with the flamethrower, it is utterly useless just like in q3f. there is no situation i can think of where i’d take the flamethrower over a panzerfaust. i just tried playing with the flamethrower, and even though i got most frags what usually happened is either i kill both me and another guy or people just run back and shoot me while i am helplessly chasing them with half speed.

the only few suggestions i have is that you make it impossible to aim when you’re on fire, because realistically if you’re in flames you’re not gonna have perfect. i’m thinking like q3f conc effect when in flames. and i would really like it if you could run same speed while firing the flame thrower as when not firing. so at level 3 you can run full speed while firing, and even if this might set you on flame it is worth it, you can circle strafe or run sideways fast while firing and that’s what counts.

if that’s no good then the only other suggestion i have is an alt fire where it shoots 1 long burst of flame that lasts longer and spreads father than normally and uses up the power bar and a lot of fuel. got that idea from windtalkers, doubt it’ll be happening though…

The Flame Thrower is for indoors and is best when protecting stairs or hallways, the thing is though the 6 maps what were released with ET are all mainly outdoor maps wich will mainly make the the Flame Thrower useless.

I believe when some new custom maps are made though there will be some indoor maps and it is then the Flame Thrower will become a potent weapon.

The PF shot delay is as it always as been,so i think you will just after get used to that one.

i’ve played with the flamethrower on seawall battery in the coridors, most of the time i just get killed with grens or a panzerfaust… or more commonly 3 people shooting through my flames with a tompson and killing me before i ever get near.

the panzerfaust suggestion is just because it is by far the easiest weapon to kill with, even for complete newbies.

In my opinion the easiest weapons to kill with are rifle grenades. No delay when fired and so no chance for the enemy to shot back. And if the rifle grenade are not doing the job then you can finish the enemy with your Garand/K43, which is doing at least 34 points damage with each hit.

i killed a WHOLE team with the flame thrower at once… it was so sweet

in a respawn i’m sure

The flamethrower is deadly in enclosed areas. It does damage very quickly, and it’s difficult to hit the person firing it, since they’re concealed by the flames. According to my stats, the flamethrower is nearly twice as effective as the mortar, and only a little bit less effective than the luger (at least against me).

I’m way more effective with the lugers than flame thrower.

I’d have to say my favorite soldier weapon by far is the mobile crew serve.

And the panzer is fine the way it is… it doesn’t really have a huge blast radius like it did in vWolf or the Beta. And I agree the easiest weapon to kill with is definetly the rifle grenades.

Too many people think the flamethrower is an offensive weapon - it isn’t! It’s a lethal defensive weapon, but when on the offensive, your lack of speed and range make you a sitting duck.

In RtCW flamer was completely useless, and I highly doupt that there will be any use for it in ET, so I guess it’ll stay as the weapon of the first-timers :[
