1944_Beach Trick Jumps...

Any trick jumpers explored on this map? I’ve just got it working and I was looking around near the Allied Transmitter, and climbed the cliff up past the ledge. The next jump is nowhere near makeable for me, but I assume some trick jumpers can.

Are there any demos or anything for this map? Or do some trick jumpers wanna consider it a challenge? There looks to be quite a few places to play around with.

Yeah you can make it 3 jumps further. There are some invisible walls in the way though so you need to do your jump away from the mountain a bit or you will jump against them and fall

I think it’s cool mappers put that kinda stuff in, so you can explore on your own. Someone needs to put in a “You shouldn’t be here” sign ala Duke Nukem 3D.

Any trick jump demo’s that are on a busy server with a 40-100 ping that can be pulled off through the lag and 20 people trying to gun your ass down?

Most trickjumping doesn’t work with people shooting at you unless they’re completely hopeless. A single bullet hitting you will lose you all your extra speed, making many jumps then not possible. For example, if you see people trying to hop the little wall by the West Radar on the Wurzburg Radar map, all you need to do is shoot them once with a pistol - and they miss. Wait till they run up again to try, shoot them once with the pistol again :D.

Pulling jumps off with lag isn’t an issue though. With the new ET Pro 2.1 netcode, you can actually do them on a 300 ping ( tried and tested ) :drink:

Trickjumping in Q3 isn’t done during public gameplay… so why does everyone assume it should be different in ET?

Here’s a couple i quickly found. Not bad for a hangover

Allied Bunker Roof And Tree
Walk Along The Cliff

I don’t think it was intentional. I helped to point out a LOT of exploits in the original builds of 1944 Beach, and the design got a little sloppier after each one. Originally, you didn’t even need to dynamite the wall on the way to the cottage. You could reach practically every single mountain top. Hell, you could even get on top of the cottage and plummet all the way down into the water for a quick escape. The map was just…bad. Still, I liked the original builds more than the final version. Things weren’t so…blocky in the first builds.

Not True Darkangle! i find overbounces extreamly useful in Q3 game play! And they count as trick jumps!
Also i use trick jumps during public matches. Like getting onto the Allied Command Post Roof on FD.
And the oasis old city wall jump! Infact there are loads of trick jumps i use publicly. But thats just me

I have a few, but I don’t usually take demos when playing on a pub, except if I’m going to do something I might use in a movie

Lag is usually not an issue, and I don’t have 20 people on my ass because I play on small servers

Over bounces can only really be done on pmove enabled OSP servers. Any one’s you hit on vanilla servers are luck really. And even then it’s only really on Clan Arena or RA3 that the really advantagous tricks can be done cos you dont recieve any self damage… I do the odd trick on those while playing, only if it helps me. Ob’s dont help me much, you go down then straight back up, i’ve not perfected HOB’ing yet except for fast capping on q3ctf4. Only others i do are nade/r’jumps, double r’jumps and strafing large gaps (e.g. dm6 bridge to railgun). But what i originally meant was Q3 tricking is very popular, and is mostly done in situations where you don’t receive self damage and there’s no one shooting at you. You get all these people saying “what’s the point in trick jumps if you can’t do them in game when ever you want?” That’s just an ignorant question. Yes a few of the tricks can be done in game, ive done them alot. But i trick for fun, it’s just a bonus if a trick happens to be usefull in game. I feel quite proud to be part of the very few that can get into the fueldump without any loss of health what so ever, or the 1st person i seen in the community of people i hang with that could get up top of the beach on battery. But i certainly don’t spend the entire pub game trying to do it when 20 people are trying to gun my ass down. All the Q3 tricking demo’s i see arent in pub games, i dont expect them to be, so i dont see why ET should be any different. That’s not the point of tricking.
