It’s not actually 20 different load-outs, though, which is what is actually mechanically and strategically important.
10 characters instead of 16 now?
what weapon loadouts? why would that matter if you need a new loadout make one it’s alot easier then making several characters right? …or am i just confused?
No, skill loadouts. According to the dev quote, it’s going to take a skill level’s worth of XP to respec your characters.
ohh ok now i get ya ,yeah does kinda put a cramp in alot of plans, but when people give ya lemons…throw them away and go buy some lemonade mix from a store. still this’ll make people have too choose wisely about they’re chars instead of “this guy is max Eng, this guy Op, this guy is Soldier, this one a Op/Medic, etc”.
well thinking they’ll get 16 characters they immediately start thinking of ways too use this massive amount of “you-ness” now they’re told 10 so it’s a little dissapointing but least the rest of the game is still awesome and keep in mind this is only Brink 1 BrIInk will be much better, and maybe by then we’ll stop hear people whining about female characters so many topics of females.
I think because it’s an information given previously, that they assumed will be true on the release, they have made plans and now they have to change their minds. It’s not that easy for some people.
Has anyone checked to see if it is 10 characters per account or 10 characters per save device?
I know at least on 360 you can use alternate save devices for specifically that purpose. If a game has a limit of 6 you can put that many on the hard drive, then another set on a zip drive, etc. It has been handled that way on games for console in the past.
Im in the… why would you need 16 characters, boat.
Just delete one and start again.
10 per profile.
Speculation has nothing to do with it. It was stated as one way and then it changed. I’m not wracking my brain over it, I just thought it would make for an interesting topic. We dealt with people arguing about red and blue outlines for a week straight. I think we can weather this as well.
Also, need has nothing to do with it. I don’t understand why you think you need 20 archetypes. I don’t understand why you think you need 58 skills. I don’t understand why you think you need 3 weight classes… and so on.
Sure, I can see that. It’s not even a huge deal to me. I just thought it was interesting. Like I said, I didn’t think we needed 16 either. I just thought 12 would have been nice.
That link doesn’t say anything about 10 per profile, the only reference to profile is saying that “As soon as something is unlocked, it’s unlocked for any character created with that profile.” It doesn’t actually reference character slots or limits at all.
The other one in the OP says you can “maintain up to 10 characters”, it doesn’t say whether if that is per gamertag or save location. As I said above other 360 games have said 5 or 6 slots but it had nothing to do with your gamertag, it was just a limitation attached to the save storage per location. You could create other characters if you had an alternate save location.
Therefore, my question still stands as to whether it is limited by save device or gamertag.

Have you had experience with idtech4 profiles?
A profile essentially allows you to have multiple users with the same game.
To break that down for you even further
, this means you can create 10 characters with your profile, but when your g/f wants to play, instead of using your characters she can create a profile and create her own characters. The profile system is not there to create characters for one user, its there to create users.
Dont take my word for it though :goliathspin:
yeah im still more upset that it takes til level 7 to get the Light bodytype but Heavy is gotten at 5
i plan on playing soldier mized with engineers and medics so i’ll have mostly 3 characters that i play adamantly but the other 7 i’ll test the other styles see if there my thing or not
I’m seriously doubtful of this. It would mean you’d be taking a skill penalty for actually playing a class based shooter how it’s meant to be played. They may as well remove the mission wheel and objectives and just rename the game “gone for a feckin picnic with my barbie dolls”. It’d make any unorganised PUB game a shambles as people refuse to change classes because they not only wanted to be a medic but also have loaded up on medic skills.

Is this true for consoles as well? I’ve only played id games on my PC, which isn’t in a position to play Brink.
All it does is encourage you to set your chars up to specialize in one class. Not the end of the world really.
