I was under the impression this game was designed so no gun could 1 shot anyone yet i just played a game where i was a medic, self buffed, we had an upgraded health command post so i had 4 extra pips, i was in Kevlar and yet being hit in the head killed me instantly. Can’t remember the guns name. Is this a hack or a bug or just another broken promise by SD?
1 shotting
They mentioned that the Barnett can one shot a light in the head before release.
With the Improved Weapon Buff, It does Almost 250 Damage to the head, enough to one shot anyone but a health buffed heavy.
Only thing that could do that, I think, would be a mossington shotgun at point-blank range to the head? Or maybe the Barnett Light rifle.
Were you a light body type?
It’s called a Barnett, it’s a light rifle and with T2 Engineer buffs it can one shot damn near anything.
Go engineer… it’s the new wookie.
It is the Barnett rifle. Hits like a truck. The only problem I’ve found so far though is the AI sometimes can nail me 3x in a row in the head, wether vaulting, sliding, jumping. When they get into their I’m-a-marksman mode, it gets painful fast.
Medium with 4 extra pips is 230hp (140 + 90)
Barnett hs is normally 187, but with the improved damage buff from an engi, its just under 250
I don’t really mind this. I find it pretty hard to head shot with the sniper rifles in this game unless my target is standing still anyway.
Save the light players, I find it pretty easy. Lining up a shot on those jittery bastards can be quite difficult though.
Where did you guys find the data on the buffs? How much do T1 and T2 dmg boost add and how much absorbs kevlar?
Its the best when you get knocked down and headshotted mid flight across the room
The only gun I know that can 1 shot, or I’ve personally 1 shotted with, was the Barnett. I took a well placed shot to the head of a light, weapon buffed. And quiet honestly, I still think the Barnett is under powered.

Mossington does 22 (bullet) damage no matter where you hit. Legs, body, head, doesnt matter. Unbuffed it will do 220 damage if you land all 10 shots, not sure how much it will do buffed.
The damage buffs are x1.175 and x1.33
So, with the improved buff and AP ammo, enough to kill anything in the game (292 damage). Although with kevlar, a medium could survive it just barely if they had all 5 health pips (292 x .8 = 234)

Is the shotgun affected by the ammo piercing bullet ability?
This ^
I’ve seen them spin 360 and have pinpoint accuracy mid spin, its crazy.

Its a bot, they will either be too dumb, or too god like. Its really rare to find a bot in a game that isnt on one side of the scale.
Found where i read about no 1 shots.
You won’t find grenade-spammers in Brink, and you won’t find snipers, either – at least, not according to current FPS standards. That’s because one-shot kills are extremely rare in Brink, with one exception: if you choose the light body type and get hit by a headshot from one of the game’s heavier weapons.
“Sniping. I would define it as someone no one else can shoot that is shooting everyone else,” Stern said. “And that’s no fun. That was, frankly, a big problem we had with Quake Wars, and we’re not going to make that mistake again.”
The marksman rifles in Brink have large sights and do big damage, but they aren’t the one-shot, one-kill sniper rifles regularly found in other shooters. The goal, Stern said, is to transform people that traditionally play as snipers who observe the battle from a safe distance into active participants that help teammates achieve objectives.
– Overhauled sniping. No traditional one-shot, one-kill sniper rifles here!

Seriously, why can’t the numbers just overlay on the bars? Some of us game more than once a month to care enough about this kind of thing.
