You've got new streamers, where are the CM's?

You’ve got a bunch of new streamers on twitch, and I’ve watched a bunch of them. Where are you guys? This is your launch party. They shouldn’t have to find you, they don’t know who you are. You need to go find them. Get out there. You CM’s need to represent. You should be welcoming them, encouraging them, giving them pointers and dropping loot.

Also, suggestions based on some trends I’ve seen:

They’re not doing the assault course. The assault course is important. Give them a tooltip that recommends they do the assault course.

They’re picking stupid mercs as their first unlocks. Some dude picked Aimee cause she “looked cool.” “Looked cool” being highly debatable because I think she looks like a member of that mid-90’s boyband Hanson, but I digress. Now he says he really regrets unlocking her. Provide a tooltip that says, “You have enough credits / rads to unlock a merc. Community veterans recommend you unlock Sawbonez, Phoenix or Stoker.” Perhaps also let new players refund one merc unlock while still under lvl.10.

These kids literally have no idea what they’re doing, and when they get out of the max level servers and thrown into the shark tank, they’re getting frustrated and disillusioned. Some still don’t know to drop their Aura stations. Others still don’t know they can go to ammo crates to get ammo if they’re teammates aren’t dropping any. What are you doing about this?

Why not set up a mentorship servers where more experienced players can join and show new players the ropes, from wall jumping to map navigation?

Anyway. Lots of new streamers on twitch. Where are the CM’s.

I tried to show a dude yesterday how to use his revivle, he kept ignoring me and then switched to Stoker. There are 2 things that might happen, people will learn as they play, or they’ll never learn. I think the latter is most likely to happen, because DB’s gameplay is not as clear as it was when I first joined (late Dec 2017) the game. I clearly that I never knew you could pick ammo from crates around the map until I played for a few weeks, I also played Aura as the first merc obviously, I sucked with her, then I switched to Stoker (Stoker really taught me how to play the game), then I decided to play her, I got better with her (now I can knife a whole bunch of enemies and run away like nothing happened), it took me time to understand the first few mercs I had (didn’t actually buy any until I was comfortable with doing so, I only had Aura, Skyhammer and Stoker for like 3-4 months, tried other mercs on free rotation from now and then but never felt comfortable with them), once I did, I started playing other mercs as much as the first ones (I’ve tried Proxy, Bushwhacker, Aimee, Nader, Javelin, Vassili, Rhino, Redeye and Sparks). It took me hella time to adapt, but the only factor that helped is me being that curious and wanting to try all mercs (Did all, except Thunder), now I can call myself a veteran, because I can play any merc you give me efficiently.

And believe it or not, I never knew calling for a medic or ammo highlighted medic packs or ammo packs on the map until a few weeks ago. Guess you learn new things everyday.

One thing they could do, that i know i’ve already suggested over discord messages to some of the staff, is moving the 30k credits you get for reaching whatever level (i think it’s 3 or 4?) from being a level up reward to being a reward for watching the tutorial video series. This would let players know that those exist, and also provide incentive for watching them if the proper tooltips were given.

Come on SD. You have people dedicated to supporting your community right? Put them to work. “Hey, thanks for trying out our game, we hope you like it. If you like our game we hope you’ll help us grow our community. Here’s some credits, fragments and a case to help you get started.”

Remember those twitch loadouts? I do. https://www.twitch.tv/whorzze, https://www.twitch.tv/aevatar and https://www.twitch.tv/adeto.

@Jigstraw, I have no idea how these new forums fucking work and I have no idea how to quote people, but that’s a good idea. Maybe award 5k for completing the tutorial, 5k for completing assault course, 5k for watching videos and 10k for hitting lvl.3 and 10k for hitting lvl.5. Divide out the rewards a bit.

Also, just watched a new player ragequit, probably for good, because of Phantom.

I’d like to say, “hey SD, here’s a streamer you should maybe check out” but she’s probably gone after today… so that’s good. Right? Right.

Your game deserves better. Put Phantom into the ground and leave him there. Wash your hands of that abortion. Lock the door and throw away the key. The way he’s designed now doesn’t fit the pace of DB and just ruins the experience for players.

Note: While I encourage everybody to link streamers they’ve been watching lately ( in fact, please do ), when linking their streams, please use < > surrounding the stream URL to remove the stream preview ( to reduce unnecessary padding / scrolling ) e.g., < https://twitch.tv > ( without the spaces ).
