Your Favourite Features of Dirty Bomb

(Lumi) #21

I love the kill streak lines and especially the fact that they are individual!

I love the fact that there are actually women in this shooter and that they’re not made into sexual objects but into badass killers.

I love the individuality of each merc, how they can be recognized miles away and look special, each and everyone.

I love the objective team based gameplay.

I love the dedicated servers.

And I love the fact that it is a genuine F2P and not a pay to win.

Yes! I love the way they designed each merc, from model to background story, they are all so unique and made perfect to be easily recognizable. And I absolutely agree with you on how they handled female characters, most developers would have probably had at least one of them topless or with terrible demeaning lines… and honestly I’m sick of it, those generic female characters got nothing on Sparks, Nader, Aura, Kira, or Proxy(Not sure about Aimee yet)!

(Feley) #23

Sparks. Definitely, Sparks.
Vassili. Definetly, Vassili.
Fletcher. No need for definitely thing

I played Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory years ago with 56k dial up and fall in the love with the gameplay and objective. Dirty Bomb is similar with more variety in classes and playing style.

I enjoy the skill(ish)-based gameplay. Everything in the game is easy to play, hard to master. Just like it should be.

Unless you’re playing Rhino.

I’d actually disagree about the Rhino bit, while he may seem easy he does rely on his team a great deal in order to achieve any real goal, a 1v1 yeah he can win almost every time, but he’s not meant to be taken on in a firefight, once you know how to deal with him he’s probably the easiest to counter… unless I’m playing him. I have my ways to turn that slow tank into a very mobile opponent that quite frankly is much harder to defeat.

(Jurmabones) #28

If anything rhino is harder to master because of having the least movespeed, the largest hitbox and his main ability being a weapon that requires a windup time and has terrible accuracy at range.

(JesseKomm) #29

Nitros really removes most of the wind up time, and through my experience a proper tap firing pattern allows for a much greater range on the minigun(The spread is quite irregular, sometimes it’s pinpoint accurate but mostly it’s just like an SMG). There are ways to really play around the movement speed as well… one trick I can teach everyone, always try to be above your opponent, and never turn a corner with your gun spun up(Always jump around the corner too because it makes it hard for snipers to predict you), wall jumps are an absolute must and they make him much harder to kill.

First real shooter I’ve enjoyed since Wolfenstein ET as a kid, Mercs have so much personality and effort put into them, and the guns just feel nice.

Yeah but all of those tactics you mentioned (elevation advantage, wall jumping, moving less predictably, etc.) can be executed by every merc. There’s still the fact that Rhino is larger and slower.

The bling. I gotta have style before I kill.

Having no way to unstick yourself if an enemy Felcher blows his sticky, sticky load on you.

Then there’s the lack of variety caused by artificially limiting the Merc choices through rotation, Arty and Phantom being underpowered, the lack of a proper tutorial that teaches the game mechanics, the lack of an in-game browsable tips page listing all the neat tips and tricks for the game, the lack of an offline practice mode, no private servers, five maps and two gamemodes…

Oh wait, you said favorite features. Nevermind.

(frolicsomeCrane) #34

“I stacked better things than you on refrigerator shelves, milk for example and… yogurt?” - Vassili probably.

Man, how funny would it be to have to frantically flail your mouse around to un-sticky a sticky bomb? I think I might start playing Fletcher just to sticky people and watch them squirm rather than blow them up.

That would be neat, albeit useless since they get detonated almost immediately, but still for those tiny chances to shake one off and live, that’d be nice.

Well, that’s why I have always said and will keep saying that Nader and Rhino are OP. Maybe ECHO data doesn’t reflect that because people on rotation suck with them, but any experienced player will kick ass with it.

9 out of 10 times, if I play Rhino, my team will win. The loss most likely being if there is no medic in my team and or the other team has a rhino as well. And don’t get me started on Nader: if you don’t tube spam like a noob, but use a couple to chip down at the enemies health and then finish them off with one of the powerful smgs, there’s no real competition out there…

Now why would you immediately detonate a direct sticky? Where’s the fun in that? Let them sweat a little.

One guy pressed K when I sticked him

(Unless you can’t break LoS or it’s an engineer about to repair the EV etc. etc.)

Well I don’t play Fletcher so, yeah, in my experience though whenever being stuck they’ll just detonate immediately… mainly because I pose a great threat to them so they want to live.

Maybe implement a delayed arming like Proxy’s mines, during which the enemy can shake off a sticky…onto a teammate if they’re not careful.
