that would mean having no headshots in the game and much higher fire rates, also in tf2 the only automatic weapons are secondaries and the slow heavy and his inaccurate minigun. I love tf2’s shotguns but they wouldn’t work in this game because tf2 is built around shotguns and projectiles, with sniper being the only hitscan range class. (former comp tf2 engie main, 5-6 seasons in ugc highlander).

You stated that the crotzni and the hochfir outclasses the SMG-9. All 3 of Kira’s weapons are way better than any of the SMGs, who would use it?

well kira is fast so it’d be a nice change to see if SMG-9 will be good on fast merc with ability to keep replenishing ammo

Honestly turning shotguns into meme guns could work, and SD has sort-of done that in the past. The thing is, you don’t need a powerful primary if the rest of your merc can hold their own. Great perks, abilities, secondaries, etc. Just look at sparks. She doesn’t even have any real primaries. And on top of that, look at rhino. He has a shotgun, but it barely gets any use at all.

If shotguns were nerfed into basically secondary-teir type weapons and the loadouts/mercs they were associated with were buffed, it could work well. Of course it would probably just be easier to remove them altogether and replace them with something else, but hey. They don’t really seem to fit with the game in the first place anyways.
