You fell for the Phantom scam? This is how to get your money back.

Contact Steam support and submit ticket.

Word it like this.

Hi. I paid $9.99 (USD) on xx/07/2015 for a ‘merc’ (playable character) named ‘Phantom’ in the game Dirty Bomb.

For whatever reason, a small portion of the community for this game were outraged at the addition of this character. Due to that, the developer of this game has recently changed the way this character works, basically making him unusable.

I feel that this is a blatant cash grab, and is against both the ethics and TOS of steam.

I request that you refund me the money that I used to purchase this character.

I will not be spending any more money on the game Dirty Bomb, now that their underhand, unethical business practices have been revealed.

Thanks for your time.

Once Steam have received 100 complaints of this nature, the game will be removed from Steam, ala WarZ.

Remember people, this is your hard earned money. Would you let somebody come up and take $10 out of your wallet? LOL no you’d punch them in the face.

Best of luck all.

Yeah…good luck with that.

The game is in open beta, meaning they’re still adding content and polishing it up, and you want to get it removed from Steam because they’ve altered things which, let’s be honest, are probably going to be retweaked in a few weeks/a month or two?

Well, congrats on living up to your username regardless.

(BushDweller) #4

Hehe, thats funny.

People spend 10 dollars for something that is being TESTED and subjected to CHANGES. Then whine when it happens.

I knew that it was going be changed the day it came out, maybe you should be more responsible with your purchases, and this wouldn’t happen.

(tinyHouse) #5

Can you tell us something new? Game has a cashshop. People should complain and critique this game. That is the only way things change.

(ChinChill) #6

@tinyHouse Evidently it had to be stated since OP feels they have been ripped off. Yes the game should be critiqued, but this business about getting it removed from Steam? That’s not critique, that’s throwing a fissy fit.

(Eox) #7

Yeah, because devbashing will makes everything better of course…

(tinyHouse) #8

It is a method of provoking devs to fix things quicker which I agree with. It is also a viable complaint.

(Badger_Commander) #9

Trying to get the game removed from steam is a totally disproportionate response and completely removes any legitimacy in your complaint.

(tinyHouse) #10

OP hasn’t stated that he personally wants the game to be removed. He only stated that if they got 100 complaints the game would most likely be removed from steam. We don’t know if op wants the game removed or is just trying to provoke devs to fix things quicker. The way I see it is that OP is trying to provoke devs. You might see it as him trying to get the game to shut down.

crycrycrycrycry MY NOOB CHARACTER HAS BEEN SLAIN FML I HAVE TO CRY NOW cry :’(

Pointless to answer properly to a dismental guy, learn to play. Childish reaction, childish answer. Live with that.

  • Disproportional reaction,

(ChinChill) #13

It’s not an appropriate response. This would be like ordering a burger and finding out you didn’t your fries. Adult thing to do is to politely bring it up and then your chips will no doubt be brought out. This is throwing your burger at the waiter and shouting about being ripped off. There’s no need to provoke or harass the devs. They’re doing their job and their job takes time to figure out what’s fair and to test; as it is, we’re part of the testing process.

Given the tone of the post I think you’re being very generous but ok yes they didn’t explicitly say that was their intention.

(GoobyOfPls) #15

This is pretty funny.

(tinyHouse) #16

Not a good analogy. Your analogy would be if someone bought payed for a rhino but can’t select one and started bitching about his personal issue on forums which gets nothing accomplished when he should send in a ticket. This isn’t an issue with just one person. I personally haven’t bought phantom with cash but I do agree with the right to complain in this manner. There is no harassment in OP’s post. I view his post as a form of getting the devs to fix things quicker.

(triteCherry) #17

I must be the only one to find humour in how the pro-Phantom people are over exaggerating just as much as the anti-Phantom people. Phantom has brought nothing but popcorn moments, fantastic.

This will have a response shortly so please do not make a new thread about it. Closing for now.

Hello, while we completely understand the frustration we are still in beta and balancing is something that is going to be ongoing. That being said- this also means this probably isn’t Phantom’s last iteration. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused but we also hope that you play a bit more and give feedback because we take it all into account. Also we view this in the same way that we did when we didn’t want to change Phantom the day after he was originally released. It takes time to really get a feel for what isn’t a knee-jerk reaction. Thanks!
