You complain about the bugs? please.

Get real.

Bugs can be fixed. I will gladly wait for them to be patched away. And i’m glad they keep us updated and are working on fixes - thank you SD.

However.

What we should be raging about is the marketing job they did around it.

Customisation:

If you advertise your game saying it has a revolutionnary character creation system, make sure you’re not taking things OUT from existing character creation system. (genders, face creation, hex color wheel, WAY MORE models/masks/tattoos.

I’ve seen wrestling games on Playstation 2 with a deeper character creation system and it wasn’t their main arguement to sell the game.

S.M.A.R.T system

Smart movement feels similar to another game we’re familiar with. I’m talking about the only other parcour FPS that’s out there. Now imagine that game, but replace the nifty skyscraper maps with Brink maps. All of a sudden, the game isn’t very good now is it?

The map designs fails to make use of S.M.A.R.T rendering it useless to win a map or gain advantage. The only map who was really fun to play was ‘‘Parcour this’’ and I wish there was more areas like this.

‘‘Parkour style movement oriented FPS’’

Is it just me or I can sprint faster in Battlefield? I find the Light class REALLY slow. This game is slow paced. don’t believe me? go play Painkiller,TFC, Quake or hl2dm.

When you look at parkour video, there’s your average person speed, and then there’s these crazy parkour athlete speed’s.

Heavy should run as fast as medium.

Medium should run as fast as Light.

Light should run much faster than it does now.

VIDEOS - Minds on the brink
Developpers saying how much work and involvment was put into the game.
Take this AND the fact they released the game EARLIER than expected was litterally saying to us:
‘‘This game is ready to go.’’ when it’s not.

It’s buggy, sluggish, most people feel like we’re playing a BETA. I don’t know what happened but what’s been said and what we bought are two different things.

Competitive multiplayer / FPS of the future

Can’t record demos? Why did you even mention leagueplay and prizes and clans if we can’t record demos? Why did your previous game have it and not this one? All the other shooters that are played competitively have and NEEDS this feature.

I feel like I bought a Lemon when I was being told I pre-ordered a Dream car.

I’d say a better analogy for what you’re stating would be going into a 5-Star Restaurant and ordering a 3-course Meal, only to be given a Happy Meal…

I don’t actually agree with any of what you said because I don’t have it yet, just wanted to offer a more comical analogy…

in the words of Richard Ham “Mirrors edge is a parkour simulator with a little bit of shooting. Brink is a shooter with a little bit of parkour”

Were you expecting mirrors edge 2? Brink is about winning with teamwork and shooting skill, SMART is only there to help you traverse the maps a bit easier, some times yeah you can use it to your advantage but it’s not the main feature of the game.

I wasn’t expecting that - but if you they’re going to implement this system in the game, one would think it would be nice to design levels around this system and the body type mechanics.

At this time I can’t see why i’d play as a Light body type if I can’t navigate faster/safer through the maps with shortcuts that are accessible only to light body types or jump over enemmy barricades.

i understand what you mean and since the game isn’t out here yet i cant form an opinion on the map layouts as of yet. And from the videos i have seen nobody has used SMART all that much, so maybe you have a point. I had hoped (like you) that SMART would be more of a core aspect of the game than what it seems to be. But i reserve my full judgement till tomorrow:)

*Also - is there any maps where areas seem to only be accessible to lights? If they implemented that it would make lights more viable? but may also mess up balance?

(Metal-Geo) #6

Regarding the speeds of the players; I actually agree with that.

Someone got really good with the smart system, sadly, this is the only map where you actually get to have fun with it.

After attempting 2 missions yesterday as light and failing miserably the entire time, I don’t see any reason whatsoever to play light. It felt like playing as a potato chip in a hammer factory. I dropped every 2 seconds and didn’t find any place that wasn’t accesible by the other body types.

The only difference was my movement speed, but all that changed was my ability to get back to my objective quicker after respawn. Not a good trade off really.

Right - I’m playing it on PC and to be balanced on PC, Light either needs a bit more health and ALOT more speed. Maybe the Light class’ speed makes sense on console but they are extremely easy to aim/shoot at on PC.

(advocacy) #10

I wonder if the developers even bother to read our complaints anymore.

(Calelith) #11

I’m not worried about character customisation, they can and will add alot of new gear as the game goes on.

(Petrolbomb_Tom) #12

But how much are they going to charge for this?

(Calelith) #13

It does seem slower than i expected, but i dont mind too much i will get used to the speed.

Can’t wait till tomorrow so i can play.

Fair enough, I suppose.

S.M.A.R.T system

Immense disagreement. Most of the maps I play have a great sense of agility to them. The issue is that it takes a bit to figure out how to use the SMART system. I use a light type and I couldnt figure out how to Wall Hop. Now that I know, I use it quite a bit. And I still use it for useful flanking options.

Mirrors Edge is a pretty bad rendition of parkour; not all free running takes place across massive skyscrapers where you jump over the same air-conditioning system seven thousand times.

‘‘Parkour style movement oriented FPS’’

Yes, movement is slower compared to old PC games. Compared to Battlefield, it may also be much slower. However, the maps are much smaller compared to Battlefield so there isn’t as much of a need of super-sprinting.

I don’t find the light class slow at all. I find him agile, which is what I need.

Funny, I see how much work was put into the game. I’ve seen only one bug my entire time playing as well.

I don’t know which platform you’re playing on but on PC the Server Browser don’t even have filters. (HLSW in the 90’s had these, you know, the basics of what a server browser should have.)

(system) #16

Since when does parkour mean speed?
