Yo, I got a question
…and getting a level can feel like it takes a long time. Even playing all day it still takes about 2 days of grinding to get a level.
But isn’t that the point of a game: for you to play it and enjoy it. Level does not really matter if you are having fun and enjoying the game. For the competitive players, it is kind of important to keep the XP to level up at 400k just because it will stop them from playing against less experienced players that became up to their level in numbers.

@RazielWarmonic Well, the exp required on the levels from 1 to (I believe 8 or 9) has always been lower than the default of 400k for all levels above that, I’m not suggesting to change those levels, but the default exp requirement for higher levels. I don’t see how this would upset any higher levels, just as the release of arsenal cases was justified to them, we’re all playing on equal footing now and will be going forward, so the change wouldn’t negatively impact them in any way other than lowering the general significance of the numeric value of their level, which, anyone with experience knows that a level 5 can outplay a level 100, it’s just a vague measure of time played, and even then very inaccurate, more so just a measure of EXP farming ability.

Fair enough, I just think that the 1hr credit booster is rather disappointing, and in general if a new player is grinding out a level, which would be harder for them than an experienced player who knows how to farm exp efficiently, and they get that as their reward, they’d be pretty upset. I don’t think a 3hr credit booster has such extreme value as to make it unreasonable as the lowest tier of level-up reward. Particularly when leveling up takes so long.

True, but in general getting the loadouts in bronze that are most effective for your playstyle on your mercs of choice can take an exorbitant amount of time. Having that is to be put on an equal playing field as all other players who have invested the necessary time to do so (or been lucky), and so to make the game generally more enjoyable for anyone playing with said loadouts. Playing a FPS game is competitive, even if casually.

There is no 30+ servers, and 1 - 10 and 10 - 20 are pretty quick. I’ve only been playing about a month and a half and I’m already 26. You can ask any truly competent and competitive player, playing in 10+ or 20+ servers by no means guarantees a balanced match, or even that great of teammates. The levels are arbitrary and are no measure of skill, only a bit of game sense.

All this talk of levels and here I’m just waiting till I can hide it so I can actually enjoy playing pubs again the way I can use VOIP and be bad all I wish, without making some Obey-cap kiddo’s systolic blood pressure rise 50mmHg resulting in dragging down entire server’s enjoyment of the match.

If someone is desperate seeing my “experience” of the game, I greet them to be my bloody quest and check my steam hours, my profile has got nothing to hide.

Something I’ve suggested is to make the Elite and Expert case available to be bought with credits, but at a steap price (30K for Expert, and 50K for Elite). Allowing for a greater decision of “Do I take a chance at a cobalt? Or do I buy a new Merc?”

(Equanimity) #26

@Joshstylegaming it’d be a good credit sink, but events usually do a pretty good job of fitting that role. leaving them cash only helps express that they’re, generally, only useful for aesthetics.

its f2p they need to somehow make money, if you want lots of shiny stuff you can pay, sorry but that is how it works

The psyche behind big numbers in levels doesn’t stop at how long you’ve been playing the game. When playing at pubs with other single digit level players, whenever they see they got someone on their side/other side that has XP advantage, their gameplay changes because they got preconceived outcomes built up already in their minds. On the other side of the coin, higher level players have the unwarranted burden of carrying the team to victory (hence carrying potatoes to victory). If the side that has a higher level player loses, the lower level ones feel they have been let down and this is not healthy gamng. Blame game ensues in the chat.

This is one of the biggest reason why I had a burnout since I hit lvl40 and decided to take a break. It was also the height at which cheating was predominantly upsetting the playerbase. I honestly feel that I’m being deprived of my enjoyment of the game because I play objectively and refuse adopt a TDM like game play (this ain’t Quake). I love this game but the player base is getting toxic that it is now margnalzing those players that played this early on. It is also upsetting to learn that higher level players are being scorned at for playing at pub games to on the lower level ones (check it out on YT).

Perhaps more lower level sandboxes are needed, or a way of displaying how much xp a player has without the associated effects of the burden of high expectations.

Add an obligation to play in min5 servers, and a possibility to break the rule (if you want to play with friends) but a (double or triple) warning which says:
“If you play too early in no restrictions level servers with higher level players, you may be getting stomped and/or stomped (not a typo) by more experienced players, don’t be a Dick and don’t be toxic with these players. They are just more experienced. If they did bad game, don’t blame them, it’s hard to carry potato like you.”

So noobs will learn with other noobs without getting stomped, and then discover high skill players with more experience.

For the OP question:
It will be like execution missions. Everyone will dismiss these missions because we all want “4500 support xp” or “7500 game mode xp” and no other missions. And we want for 1000credits, to trade up or buy mercs. Elite cases are not the best way to get wanted cobalt. Trade up are.

breaking the rule, making noob play in minimum level server, ruins other people games…

Not breaking the rule then noobs can play on min lvl servers, but only for them to play on no restrictions servers. Just add another rule over existants which can be broken. When I began, I was happy to play with other high level players because they made me discover this game. I waited to play on lvl 10+ but I was not restricted on lvl5-. Just add a rule to force people to play on max lvl5 and if they want to play on no restrictions server with their friends, just add an option to break this rule. But tell them how it’ll be when playing with better players to prevent some toxic behaviour.

(Guziol) #33

Don’t fix something what is not broken.
On a sidenote, i would love if you could not see levels anymore but thats just my opinion. They tend to leave false expectations towards people.

Being someone who spend a fair amount of time in-game I decided to give my point of view on this topic.

First of all your level doesn’t really say much in this game and I say this a lot.
There are tons of low level players out there with a few k’s hours of experience in shooters. Many of whom out shoot me on a regular basis. Then there are the level 100+ that are a bit iffy to play against. Some are really good and others are just plain average.

Non of the levels really say anything about a players skills to be honest. You can have a level 4 on your team destroying everything while the enemies team is full of people that hardly know how to run around.

80% of the games I play are unbalanced. Either I win hard or lose even harder and when I play on a min lvl 10/20 server the skill gap is usually worse. Being level 10+ doesn’t say anything about your skill after all. So if you put 6 randoms vs 6 randoms there is a massive chance it’s not going to be balanced.

Often because of leavers and afkers the balance worsens and you’re just screwed.

The leveling bit in this game is just for rewards as I see it. It takes me about 7 or 8 hours to level up at the moment. Players that are better then me will be able to do this even faster.

I’m level 45 I believe, my aim isn’t great. On average I hit about 25-30% of my shots.
My skills are just plain average if you ask me.
