Yet another problem with Snow

(Pande) #1

Yes before you go flaming me with the SEARCH TOOL, I have looked all over. Basically, I put in the key/value

atmosphere/T=SNOW,B=5 10,C=0.5,G=0.3 2,BV=20 30,GV=25 40,W=3 5,D=2400,H=512

in the world spawn.

This is a copy of Railguns, except I added the H line to make sure it fell from beneath my sky level. I have tried with both H and without H (Exact Railgun setting) and still no snow.

What am I doing wrong?

Many Thanks…

Pande

afaik you need a tracemap for things like rain, snow and whatever.

/devmap yourmap
/developer 1
/generatetracemap

-> reload your map

(Pande) #3

teehee it didn’t say that anywhere in the tutorials  Ok thanks for your help

K tried it… again, no snow. I made the trace map, exited ET, started again and loaded the map with devmap. Where is teh tracemap file supposed to go in anyway, just in ETMAIN where it ended up or elsewhere?

I believe it goes in the /maps/ subdirectory. And if it does not load check that sv_pure is zero when testing ( or place it in a pk3 file)

(Pande) #6

Yup I had +sv_pure 0 and +g_gametype 2 set to my .exe so that isn’t ever a problem, however just to be sure I did check. Yup, sv_pure 0.

I also tried applying this to my fog brush, since that’s the same diameter as my sky. Stil nothing.
I also thought perhaps the fog brush is blocking the snow, so I deleted it and tried again. Still no snow.

I have yet to try it in a test map… I will do that next. If that works, I will perhaps send my map file to someone cuz I really need the snow.

Also I may ask: is there a / command to disable snow and rain effects? I may have disabled that ages ago and just not known about it.

Yes you can disable them with cg_atmoshpericeffects 0 or something like that, and that SAX!. Did you check that the rain is coming from right height, did you check if it is raining above or under your map?

(Tyrlop) #8

hey Pande! is it the Eastfront map you are working on? you don’t need to add snow, Eastfront got this atmospheric system that can generate diffrent fogs and atmospheric effects like rain, snow etc. for each map.

oh  ok then. and ya its not snowing above or below
