Yay Tripmines!, need a modeler, and update to devmod

I decided add a client side to devmod (was server-side only) and change the goal from making an alterative to ETpub to adding as much stuff as possible without loosing the feel of vanilla ET. After messing with the code for a while I managed to get tripmines to show up in weaponbank 9 for eng. They need alot of work but the code that was there (but mostly commented out) works pretty well for the most part:

As you can see I’ve had to use the landmine models temporarily. I’m looking for a modeler to do the models for the tripmines and maybe modify the rifle models.

Thanks but I already had someone offer to do the model. To activate the tripmines you have to make sure all the tripmine code is uncommented, assign it a .weap file, put it in a weapon bank, give it to a class, and make sure it gets ammo. If you want it to have obitiuaries and stats working with it you need to do a bit more. i like the landmines for this :stuck_out_tongue:
however you should replace railtrails with some kind of rope, but then again it will be badly visible
also nice to hear that vanilla code works

I was planning on having the visibility similar to landmines, only teammates see them, enemy level 4 battle sense and covops can spot them. Right now both teams can see them.

also nice to hear that vanilla code works

how about for player on the team of the mine owner the trai shows up bright in the team colours so its hard to miss

but for the enemy a thin grey rope thats 90% transparent so its hard to see unless players are paying atention and looking closely for them

it would also be cool if the mine was planted then the traget of the rope could then be set so it not lazer beams (not quite WW2 theme)

woot! tried to allow tripmines and it wasnt even 5min job :o
EDIT:for everyone else i’ve only uncommented all for tripmine( about 10 things ), loaded landmine weapon file in cg_weapons for it, added it to weapon bank in bg_misc , and at last added it to engineer in g_client

Cool! The other team can see the mine on the wall but not the beam right?

How can the other team destroy them? Are they disarmable by pliers, or can you just shoot and grenade them?

In the vanilla code both teams can see the beam and mine and pliers disarm them. I’m not sure yet how I will use them in devmod.

whats the maximum distance you can set them to? as surely you could just stick them every 2-3 feet down a corridor on a wall and make it basically as tough to get through as a brick wall

Yeah it probably needs some gameplay tweaking to work nice don’t you think? (it wan’t removed from the game without a reason ^^.

currently they cant be damaged, but thats easy to change, what’s a bigger problem that they dont have any management like landmines…
i haven’t check much distance, but you can only do solid to solid placement

How I did it in my mod was each engineer was allowed to place 2 :banana:

I’ve been sick and very busy, not a good combination. I haven’t even done anything with the model yet. Hopefully I can make some progress this week.
