Xposed - upcoming map

(SteelRat) #1

Hi all,

We are soon about to release our latest map Xposed for ET.
The scenario is a bombed town where a force of Allies have been left behind, their only hope of escaping is to steal a tank and drive thru the defenses and out of town.
The map features many new textures and sounds.

Mapping has been done by SteelRat, Ringa and Capitan.

Here are some pics:

Cheers!

Hi!
Who made that town? It’s all ruined and destroyed! I’m afraid you have to rebuild that. Lol, nah - it looks perfect. Well done!
Now I want to see a Spitfire (or a Bf109) fly-by with a loud engine-sound. (Use .tga with alpha channel and a script mover + func_timer set at wait/240 sec or so).
Skal!

on xposed23.jpg a nice window poppep into my eye. the only thing i have to say about it: it looks
somewhat too bright and shiny. i don’t expect that one to change in the very next release, but
you may want to keep tis in mind for the final eye-candy stage  i can think of a photshop layer
differece clouds, blend mode normal and lowering it’s opacity. this should give you some random
pattern on the glass and even ‘graying’ it out a little…

awaiting first playable

Heh Loffy, we skipped the flyby but we kept the stukas and mustangs

(Chr()nos) #5

Wow, amaizing. It looks a bit like Stalingrad. I’m looking forward.

(SteelRat) #6

Agree Thore, well see what we can do about that window

(neotic) #7

What are FPS like? Looks good… Im just worried about speeds.

(SteelRat) #8

No problems with FPS, we have played the map on several systems and found no issues.
My FPS is rock solid on 76.

(CrazyGuy) #9

The 5th pic looks like a sceen from Full Metal Jacket.

(Fusen) #10

haha ya just noticed after you mentioned it but sadly as there isnt a 1 hit 1 kill sniper rifle and afraid the scene wouldn’t quite work out the same way on the map

(Shaderman) #11

The shots look really very nice and playing in a bombed city should be fun in ET. But there are two things I’m not sure about. The ruins look like the bomb attack was very well done. I wonder if there could be undamaged or lighted windows or electricity at all  Maybe those broken windows seen in shot xposed15 would fit better? Don’t know… :???:

just played this and it seems like the tank takes a tiny bit oo long for my liking… but thats just me also got excellent fps all over the map =] 100+ to 200 in some parts with a 9800XT

(SteelRat) #13

Well, we adjusted the speed of the tank to match the map.
On a full server this is the right speed and it also gives Axis a chance to win

U can always change the script if you are running ET pro and make the tank go faster.
The speed we decided to use is actually the same as on goldrush, but we have further distance between the splines so that it travels a bit more before stopping when damaged.

I am glad to hear about the FPS but I am not surprised

Cheers,
SteelRat

nice a link to the same thread

some nice modding there!

having played it a little it looks good! But maybe a bit dreary :>

For a guy who was only going to make 1 map now almost has enough maps for a whole campaign…:), Nice work!!! I think it will be better when the players figure that they have to get the tank…

The map layout is nice - lots of cover and sniper points.

Good FPS for an open map - 100+ in most areas during my first run- thru’s.

There seems to be an abundance of duplicate terrain or overlapping brushes that are very distracting during gameplay, but otherwise it’s a nice job.

(SteelRat) #17

Thanks Lego
I’m a bit confused about the terrain you mention…nobody has mentioned any problems with that during beta testing. U sure it is the map?
We have seen no flaws with overlapping brushes, well… there is a tiny one where the tank drives thru the wall but that is gone when the tank is thru.

I looked at it again.

I run my FPS uncapped and was seeing the blend stages of the terrain shader and that what is flickering in and out. (FPS > 200)

When I cap my FPS at 75 the flicker goes away and everything looks good.

I never saw a terrain shader do that before.

Sorry for false alarm. :stuck_out_tongue:

Cool, I have never seen that before either!
